About Me

Hello!

I'm a 28 year old aspiring world traveler, cat lover, Theatre stagehand, and Harry Potter aficionado- among other things ;)

I'm currently in Edinburgh, Scotland and exploring and livin’ life here for at least 2 years ( UK work visa!).

I look forward with excitement about starting this adventure. I hope to eventually make my way all over Europe after.
I love exploring the outdoors and love getting a good hike in the surrounding mountains, forest trails ect. whenever possible. I hope to get in some epic camping/hiking/exploring while here in the UK.

My aim in life is to learn and grow from my travelling experiences, and expand my love for people in general. If you put out good energy into the world, it will always reward you with the greatest experiences. My motto is to always try something once, before criticizing whatever it is. ( As long as it doesn't kill me haha).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I lived in a Yellow House with a couple rad roommates, one of them had a couch surfing account ( Sacia Burton, look her up!) and we would host quite a few guests over the course of one summer. We had people from all over the world! Germany, Israel, New Zealand, UK, France etc. I just loved it! I loved the sense of community one has from this site, and the pure kindness of strangers. It amazes me. I just hope I can contribute something great in this world and once I have a stable home, would love to host again.
But for now I'm super grateful to have people offer up their spare room for my body to sleep in hehe :)

Interests

Really my interests above are self explanatory I guess haha.
I would really like to start a travel blog. I love taking pictures of my travels and would like to document my experiences, especially as a solo female traveler.

I'm trying more and more to be more active in my life. In winter it gets very hard to accomplish much in the rain ( am i making excuses? ) on the island, but have taken up yoga and board gaming with friends to make it less hermity. I realize with the appropriate attire this wouldn't be much of a problem. What do they say? " there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes!" hahah. Why do I never take my own advice? Tsk. ;)

Current Favorite Board Games: Settlers of Catan, Munchkin, Boss Monster, Ticket to Ride, and Mechs vs Minions, Pandemic.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a versatile music preference. It really depends on my mood.
But I'm definitely open to discovering any new music. Some favorite artists include: July Talk, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Zeds Dead, Kimbra, FKA Twigs, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, Astrud Gilberto, Alabama Shakes and The Mars Volta.

Fave books include: Harry Potter( already a given), any Stephen King and Neil Gaiman novels and short stories, period piece novels such as : Memoirs of a Geisha, The Great Gatsby and Outlander.

My favorite movies are mostly fantasy based, such as Lord of the Rings, The Princess Bride, Star Wars, and anything from Marvel. Other faves include: Midnight in Paris, The Darjeeling Limited, Forrest Gump, Chicago, Across the Universe. Animated Movies: Howl's Moving Castle, Mulan, Finding Nemo, How to Train Your Dragon.

When it comes to TV Shows I like to commit to long series such as: Game of Thrones, Orphan Black, Luther, The Office, Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Brooklyn-Nine Nine. I subscribe to all the Marvel shows on Netflix ( except Iron Fist, maaaan that was bad)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went caving in Vietnam. Was the most amazing and bizarre experience I've ever had.
Covered head to toe in mud and equipped with only a headlamp our group went deeper and deeper until finally arriving at the end- at a huge mud pool "room"almost as tall as myself ( that's not too tall) that would make me completely float at the top without any problem. So neat.
Oh and and zip lining in there and kayaking out through a river was fun too ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you the ways of the DANCE OFF. Nothing more satisfying than truly expressing your weirdness through dance. A sip of whiskey is encouraged, but definitely not enforced.

I'm a beginner yogini, and I would love to learn more of this as it's definitely been helping me with my hip ( car accident) and flexibility. Got a long way to go to try clearing my mind.
