About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Spent many years searching for my niche, and then found it.
ABOUT ME
Hi. My name is Brian. Late 20's American from St. Louis, out and about here in China.
Also, apparently, I'm the manager of a Couchsurfer halfway house in Shanghai, where wandering souls come for rest and repose. We've had a good cast of characters pass through over the years.
PHILOSOPHY
+ > ÷
One day, you opened your eyes. And one day, you will close them forever. Everything else is theory. Challenge yourself.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I started with couchsurfing as a surfer in 2007, but have started hosting more and more.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've taken well to hosting out here in Shanghai, one of the best cities in the world. If you are in town, hit us up. We'll try to set you up.
I surfed for the first time in the former Yugoslavia, mostly in Serbia and Slovenia. I have since surfed elsewhere (even in Iraq, of all places), but will always remember those first times fondly. Wonderful experiences, good people.
Interests
Strong ideas. Good company. Kinetic energy. Forward momentum. Also any activity which brings new music into my life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Got lost, stumbled across nomads, lived with them for a week somewhere in the Mongolian steppe.
Took a change of clothes (and a bouncy ball) and backpacked the Former Yugoslavia for a month.
Lived in the postmodern clusterfuck that is West Africa for a year, working on service projects for Rotary International. A straight up experience, to say the least.
