Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Enjoying being married and exploring the world! My husband and I hope to move to Portugal.
ABOUT ME
I teach, dance, garden, and cook. I like people who can see the bright side of things. My husband and I share a love of hearing different perspectives, being creative, talking about what really matters in life: connection, appreciation, enjoyment.
PHILOSOPHY
Gratitude is the salve for Samsara :-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
On the (unfortunately) rare occasions when I travel, I seek out cheerful couch hosts.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been hosted by lovely people in Ireland, France, and the U.S. I haven't hosted anybody yet.
Interests
I love to cook (local, fresh, omnivore, whole food), sing, and explore movement (dance, hike, swim). I'm a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique and I love sharing with people how to move and think with more ease and fluidity. I dance Argentine Tango, study Body-Mind Centering, do some yoga and meditation, and in general play at creating a life worth living. My blog is www.alexanderasheville.com

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies I consistently recommend to friends: Stranger Than Fiction, Off the Map, City Island, Easy Virtue. Right now I'm reading a book on neuroscience, dreaming, and consciousness. In music I love jazz, funk, new americana, folk, and tango.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching clouds swirl in to cloak the scenery at Sam's Knob, a spectacular vista off the Blue Ridge Parkway outside Asheville NC. Climbing into the arms of a 1000-year-old tree on the brink of the Grand Canyon. Feeling the majesty of Kauri trees (in New Zealand) as a perceptible vibration. Swimming (briefly) in frigid waters of Patagonia.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to share my enjoyment of food, easy movement, and uplifting conversation.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I teach mindful movement, and am happy to offer help to hosts who want to improve their efficiency or change patterns that may create pain.
