About Me

I consider myself a dreamer, someone with a big focus and someone who tries to be happy every day and to make others happy. In 2010 I realized what was my porpose of life. What I really want to do and what to fight for. I learned that for every life dream we always need to know “What we want, When we want it, What we need to do for..”. I want to visit the 206 countries in the world until 18 of July 2035 (day that I'll be 50 years old) and for that I need to visit 9 countries per year. I will do it! (or at least I'll fight for it)
Before I knew my life dream, I had lived in Portugal for 23 years. I made two years of my Tourism Degree in Coimbra and the last year in Italy. After that I started to travel a lot. In 23 years I just knew some regions of my country and the border of Spain, but since 2008 I have already lived in 5 countries, I have learned 5 languages and I have visited hundred places in 50 countries.
After traveling the world in 2016/2017 for 365 days I'm back to Rödental, a small city in the region of Bavaria in Germany. I created the World's Lightest Travel Kit and wrote 5 books to help travelers to travel lighter and smarter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The first time I heard about this project, my first idea was: Great, I can sleep at other people’s house and I don't pay for it. After my first experiences, I realized that Couchsurfing is not about that... this is the best opportunity to make friends all around the world, visiting the countries and stay with locals who will give me the best tips for everything I need to know, an opportunity to taste what they eat and promote my country when I cook for them. It's extremely important for me that every single person I host feels happy with the decision to stay with me, because I will do everything I can to make this CS experience a memorable experience for all their life.

Interests

I love people who like to talk and share their life experiences, positive people, dreamers, people who share things with me that I wouldn't easily know. People who like to taste different food.
Making a pub crawl or spending a relaxed evening with a good glass of wine at home with some friends.
Save money for travel: This is one of my biggest passions and something I love to talk about it.
Travel Light: There is no other way to travel for me and I'm always searching for the best ways to travel more without carrying so much with me.
Since I am 15, I go every single year to a Music Festival. I would feel empty inside if I spent one year without one.
Cooking: There are some people who cook because they need to eat, there are some people who like to cook and there is me who is addicted to cooking! I love cooking, I love to look into my fridge and think...”hum...what will I create today...”

Music, Movies, and Books

There are so many good movies, like Forrest Gump, Braveheart, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars (I'm addicted), Intouchables, The Pianist... and so on.

I'm a Heavy Metal fan so I’m hugely interested in everything about that, however I'm not the guy who can't appreciate a good voice or a good band from another style :D

In the last few years I have focused on travel books like “How to Travel the World for FREE: I did it, and you can do it, too!” and “How to Barter for Paradise: My Journey through 14 Countries, Trading Up from an Apple to a House in Hawaii” by Michael Wigge. “Fluent in Three Months” by Benny Lewis and travel books from Gonçalo Cadilhe, a traveller inspiration who has already visited so many parts of this world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Fortunately there are so many things I can talk about, but I will select some that came to right now to my mind:

November 2009: I took 4 flights to Norway for 0,04€ with Ryanair;
January 2013: Crossing half Europe by car (6 days, 12 Cities, 8 Countries);
I rescued as a Lifeguard 5 people on the ocean in Portugal;
I traveled to 15 countries during my journey around the world (365 days in 2016/2017);
I cooked for more than 400 people in one year, in several countries, most of it couchsurfers;
I've visited almost one quarter of the world (50/206 countries);
I opened a company and created the lightest travel kit in the world;
I wrote 5 books from The Cruz Companion Guide.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to save money for traveling the world, how to travel super light and how to cook portuguese food.

Omg! There are so many things I would love to learn. I would love to learn more languages! Can you teach me some words?

I will share all my happiness and my hospitality every single moment with you. It is extremely important for me that you never forget the couchsurfing experience you had with me. Couchsurfing is much more than having a good time for a short period. Having friends all over the world is without a doubt one of my biggest goals in life.
