About Me
I CANNOT host any guests for SXSW, sorry!
CURRENT MISSION
Graduate college, get my ass to Europe
ABOUT ME
I'm in my final year of college, studying new and old media. Trying to find a job...
I want to go to northern Europe really badly!
I live in Austin, taking things easy and having a good time. There are a lot of interesting people, organizations, food and shops here. I like being exposed to and learning from all different kinds of people, and love hearing stories from their lives. I really enjoy my time here in Austin.
I read a lot of books, but also enjoy spending time with my friends. When I have time I practice meditation (Zazen) and Yoga.
I live on the border of cyberspace, being involved with the local indie gaming scene. I'm also fascinated with virtual reality (like the Oculus Rift), virtual worlds, and the process of their design.
I'm very interested in better, less commercial ways of living. Tracking the days by the phases of the moon instead of the gregorian calendar, sharing food and rides instead of wastefully spending money, living together instead of separate and alone, etc. I'd like to learn how to navigate by the stars and landmarks instead of GPS.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe there is beauty and meaning in everything, and the only way to see it all is to live in the now. I think being able to live in and respond to the moment is more important than being able to follow plans. I think being able to laugh is most important of all.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I plan on traveling in Europe in 2015. Where? Not sure yet. London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Scandinavia at least. I want to couchsurf, camp and hitchhike wherever seems appealing and right.
This year, 2014, I intend on hosting as many travelers as I can, having fun, making connections and learning about the world. I want to show off the really cool parts of Austin.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted a few people so far. All of my guests have been cool and we had great times together!
Interests
Culture, subculture, technology, media, and how they're all related. Zen, Buddhism, meditation, yoga, paganism. I enjoy myth and history. I like catchy music with substance, avant-garde and indie video games, literature, poetry, and comic books. Into books, music, video games, and quality TV (haha..)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: In addition to bands like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Beck, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, Neil Young and other standards, I like heavy underground metal and hardcore bands, old-school hip-hop, local radio, industrial/noise, indie rock, and lots of psychedelic stuff. A few bands: My Bloody Valentine, Godflesh, DJ screw, Queens of the Stone Age, Dinosaur Jr, Om, El-P, King Crimson, Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death. I've DJ'd for my college radio station, so I've listened to a LOT of music.
Movies: I like films in the gangster and sci-fi genres. Goodfellas and Star Wars are in my top three with the Blues Brothers. Also on the list are No Country for Old Men and Outrage. I love Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez as well. I'm a Radio/Television/Film student so I've seen a lot of obscure art films like Scorpio Rising, Death By Hanging, The Bike Thief and Man With a Movie Camera. I like intense dramas and ridiculous comedies. Mostly I like movies when they're labors of love and not shoveled out to make a buck.
Books: I like sci-fi books by William Gibson and Neil Stephenson. I'm a fan of Hunter S. Thompson and love reading books by journalists. I read a lot of non-fiction as well, about culture and technology. I also like spiritual texts like the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads. Into myth, such as the Odyssey and Prose Edda. I love poetry, Ted Kooser and Jorge Luis Borges are two of my favorites.
But I fucking love comics. Grant Morrison, Alan Moore, Warren Ellis and Garth Ennis are some of my favorites.
And Jodorowsky. Everything Jodorowsky!
