About Me

Helloooo!

I'm mid-twenties guy going for a long-term trip through South America in a couple of days! I'm aiming at discovering different ways of life, share unexpected experiences, visit nice places, attend crazy parties... Sounds a bit cliché when I write it but I guess it's definitely true =)

So first and foremost, yes I'm French, yet I'm definitely into taking showers and stuff [I thought I'd might precise since apparently we have a bad reputation about self-cleanness]

I grew up in the suburb of Paris, then moved to the city of Toulouse in the south of France at age 20. I studied there (and it is a greeeat place to study with good night life, would definitely recommend it to anyone if you have the opportunity to take an Erasmus-like program).

So recently I was desperate about living so close to Spain and not knowing a single world of spanish and felt like wandering in South America to see various things I'm not used to -- that's how simply I took the decision to leave my job and travel other there to enjoy the time of my life!

Well to be honest I took advantage of living in a city that close to Spain to start learning this language the hard way - by that I mean I started to go to language exchange with very few vocabulary, thus I can have proper conversations right now. I started also a bit to learn Portuguese because I want to go to Brazil too, but it's difficult to learn two languages at the same time (luckily they're similar), not to mention that natives are also a bit more difficult to find.

I donot want to plan my travel too much because I want to leave place to jump into potential opportunities that may appear during it. So I will probably use this site mostly for last minutes requests to find half a sofa to rest. If you cannot host me I would still be interested in meeting you to have a tour of your city or go out to interesting spots both at day&night time.

Things I'll be willing to do during the trip
- Reassuring cliché : I won't lie to you my parents grew up with tv giving them the feeling South America is crowded with Che Guevarass waging wars and Escobars dealing at every other corner so people their age think your countries are crazy dangerous. Thus counting stories bringing in positive clichés would clearly help them to have it easy. For instance I would be interesting in going to a milonga to take my first Tango lesson in Buenos Aires, dance salsa in Cali, attend a crazy Baile Funk in Rio (looks like just another nice dancing stuff for people who have no idea ;)). In this category I would also put activities such as checking Iguazu falls didnot vanish over the night, etc.
- Culture : one could say I'm not really into music because I'm not used to listening music at home but on the other hand I'm enjoying a lot music festivals and I'm very open-minded to any kind of music you can hear there, so hopefully I can attend some on the way. I enjoy going to the movies as well ; I confess I tend to like a lot movies that are based on real stories however unstopping flow of super-hero stories crossed way beyond my guts [am I making up a new expression there?]
-Sports : I'm always interested in practicing any kind of sports (at a low level), I'm definitely bringing sports wear.. not that I'm expecting to be able to practice as much as I'ld like. Attending sports events I'm not so sure, most probably will depend on my mood. And apparently it can be very expensive as well, so I'm not even sure I'll decide to make the move to see a football game over there even if everybody's relating the incredible atmosphere. Well a guy told me once I look similar to the French President so I might end up trying to enter La Bombonera for free pretending I'm his son being here to meet Macri's people... who knows :))

Last but not least, I'm definitely bringing a book to read during the quiet times of my journey so I will be very interesting in book swaping to continuously discover new things!

Feel free to ask me any questions you may have, I'm looking forward to meeting you! Kisses from France
