About Me

Who am I ? I'm Thibault (Tibo for those who wonder "How the hell am I supposed to pronounce that ?!). Alright alright that's just a name, but it's the first thing that defines me (after my nose...). Good start ! Now, let's get serious, it's important to be serious.
I graduated in architecture but never worked on that field. For 3 years I did mostly rope access technician (something that has to do with working on heights with ropes), and skiman (repairing skis and advising people in a skishop). And right now, no more working, but traveling !

About my personality, we're not in a job interview so you'll have to be adventurous and wait to see ! What I can already say is that I'm part Belgian so I'm dumb... Fortunately I'm hybrid, so my French part catches over with the dumbness. It also raises my ego. I can climb it and jump to my IQ, it's a pretty long fall. Sorry I just wanted to quote this expression somewhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I try to travel as much as possible. As for probably most of the couchsurfers, the main idea is to meet people. I don't think you can ever be disappointed. Even if the experience is bad on the moment, it makes interesting stories for later. Doesn't mean I'm hoping to have bad experiences...

I've always loved meeting people, especially if they're from another country with a different culture and a different language. That's the best part about traveling. So if you have the opportunity to visit a place, it's good ; if you can meet people there, it's better ; if you can visit the place with people (and locals), it's perfect !

Interests

Traveling is great. After graduating from high school, I went to the States for a year (in Ohio). I was living in a host family and was doing like a second last year of high school. I didn't travel so much there but I guess it's when I started being so interested in it. Anyway it was an awesome year. After that, an Ecuadorian guy that I met there came to live in my house in Belgium for 2 years, he's now studying in Belgium. That's what I find so amazing about traveling, anything can happen !
In my fourth year of university, I went to Ljubljana for an Erasmus. Can't describe it... One of the best choices of my life ! Slovenia is amazingly beautiful, full of mountains, lakes, rivers, forests, and coast, everything so close. And it's not very touristic. And it's in the middle of an incredible region. And the people are so nice. And it has a very interesting history. And hitchhiking is easy. Just go there...

My big passion is the mountain and everything related to it.

I like sports a lot. My favorites by far are climbing, hiking and skiing. Unfortunately Belgium is not the best country to practice that, unless you want to climb on your neighbor's roof (don't try that, he might not appreciate), hike on a highway or ski on a potato field...
I've also played table tennis in competition for quite a few years, badminton, tennis, I like athletics, biking, ... When I was young and crazy, I also got into circus a little, with friends.
Extreme sports is something that I would really like to get into once I have some time.

I play piano. Or at least I used to.

I love music and movies.

I love eating good food. I would say I eat quite a lot but I don't know if I should. I might not get invited.

No need to say that I love beers, of course I come from Belgium.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I fell from a mezzanine while sleeping, and just broke a finger. I have a lot of messed up experiences but I must say I'm pretty proud of that one.

Teach, Learn, Share

Whatever I can teach, whatever I can learn, whatever we can share.
I'm really good at breaking phones and bones. Don't be afraid, I only do it with mine but I can teach you !

What I Can Share with Hosts

Again, whatever we feel like sharing. We can talk about travel experiences, each other's interests, music, I can teach you some French cursing, and if you're nice enough I can even buy you a beer.
