About Me

My name is Thi, but because it is a very complicated name, some people call me Tea instead and that is fine with me. I was born and raised in Viet Nam, though I have spent the last 5 years living abroad, first in Dilijan, Armenia, then Vermont, USA. I have taken every opportunity there is to travel. I used to make a lot of trips with friends to different part of Vietnam. Once I left the country when I was 16, I expanded my trips to a bigger scope. Up to now, I have visited Armenia, Georgia, Germany, USA, UK, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Thailand, Singapore, and obviously, Vietnam. Within the next three months, I am adding 12 countries to this list through a sea voyage, a journey I am very much excited about.

I love hearing people's stories. This is a big part of why I travel, and is definitely the reason I am here on Couchsurfing. I have not hosted before, since I unfortunately have not got my own place. For now, I am receiving more than giving, but I would love to host once I own a place myself. I love meeting people from all walks of life and from all corners of the world to see how else life could be, as well as how my life could and/or should be. Isn't it so uninteresting meeting people similar to you all the time, when the world is such a diverse place?

I am a linguistics enthusiast. I speak fluent English and Vietnamese, pretty good French, and I am learning Spanish, Japanese and Russian. Even when you don't speak a language that I am learning, I would love to just hear about that language, i.e. its structure, funny phrases, etc. I love music. It would be a big plus for me if you own a guitar/ukulele or a keyboard at your place. I am a bit of a coward when it comes to scary things, i.e. ghost, themed park, activities that involve free falling. However, I am very open to new experiences and I am interested in almost everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: almost everything, ranging from classical to pop. On any given, day, though, I tend to listen more to sad, melancholic songs than, say, dance music.
Movies: this is a tough one for me, as I tend to forget moves pretty easily, not sure why! I love most Disney and Pixar animated movies. I like rom coms, but also enjoy Marvel movies. You get the idea, I'm pretty easily satisfied.
Books: a recent favorite is Three Body Problem (a sci-fi from China). I enjoy memoirs a lot. I dislike most self-help books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living. I truly think living is an amazing thing. Maybe starting from a biological point of view, but also from an astronomical and social point of view.
