Overview
About Me
I am a graduate student at Keio University in Tokyo, researching atmospheric particle physics. I moved here in the summer of 2019, and will be living here until at least 2022.
I enjoy playing soccer, checking out all the vegan restaurants in Tokyo, astrophotography, and learning Japanese!
In 2017, I went on a bike trip through Europe, starting in Lisbon and going along the Mediterranean coast before turning North in Italy to bike the Swiss Alps. I finished in November in Scotland. I've saved up for this trip the previous 4 years working as a teacher at a school in California. Couchsurfing on bike tours is incredible! I have toured in various parts of Japan, Australia and the US.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In 2009 I biked across the main island of Japan and stayed with many awesome couchsurfers. I've only had great experiences and have got to see towns and cities from a unique perspective.
In 2013 I couch surfed in Indonesia and had very memorable experiences.
Having lived on a school campus for the last 5 years, I haven't been able to host, but look forward to in the near future!
Interests
I love soccer, photography, piano (although I'm not that good.. yet!), astronomy, sci-fi (I'm writing a collection of sci-fi short stories that I plan to self publish this year) and talking about world politics. I am vegan, but can easily take care of food for myself!

Music, Movies, and Books
I really love all kinds of music, maybe except for heavy metal. But rock, indie, pop, oldies, hip hop, musicals, and classical are all wonderful.
Movies and tv.. I again am pretty easy to please. Hm, I grew up watching Star Wars a lot, and still enjoy blockbusters like that, but also beautiful movies like Amelié, silly movies like Monty Python, and thoughtful movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Books: Where to start! Being a sci-fi writer I love books like Ender's Game, 1984, things by Arthur C. Clarke, Issac Asimov, Kurt Vonnegut, Philip K. Dick, etc. but also love Harry Potter. I also enjoy Malcom Gladwell, Richard Feynman's books, and I couldn't not mention growing up on Calvin & Hobbes and Tintin.. I guess I'll stop there.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I won a photography competition and got to go on a zero gravity flight!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach about physics, photography, and bike repair.
I'd love to learn about everything and anything!
I would love to share in cooking a meal together and/or exploring the city or wherever we are together.
