CURRENT MISSION
Spread my wings and live!
ABOUT ME
Hey, I'm jess,
I was born in Kenya and it is still Home.
I live in beautiful New Zealand, but have travelled to Kenya, South Africa, Scotland and Australia to make life a bit more interesting and keep my horizons a bit wider :-)
NZ is a beautiful country, full of adventurous, laid back people. I spend a lot of time at the west coast beaches in Auckland where the black sand and raging sea make the place seem beautifully wild. I also wander around the trails in the Waitakere ranges, a big forest close to where I live in West Auckland.
I've tried a few different career paths, still no idea what I want to do! I love photography, rockclimbing, hiking (though I'm not too fit at the moment), music of almost any description. I have very itchy feet and can't sit still for very long before wanting to travel, never a problem while I have a car. Even better though to take off overseas for longer. I love exploring - getting out into the middle of nowhere and running amock in the wilderness (little experience, but I LOVE what I've done so far!!), and like getting to know people in any place I stay.
I can be shy but it doesn't take very long for me to come out of my shell, especially if there's an adventure to be had or a joke to be laughed at. I'm keen to see so much more of the world and experience the wonder of it all :-D I'm just a tad idealistic and live for the rush and soaring of adventure, the joy of simply breathing and living, of seeing something new and beautiful.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm sure I have one, you'll need to meet me to find out what it is!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I don't have a couch or bed on offer at the moment as I'm travelling through the UK and Europe for the next nine months, but when I get back my couch is your couch - if I have somewhere of my own! If not, I'll gladly show you around my town and help out in any way I can.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None at all! But I recently arrived in Scotland, going to the England in May for work until August then travelling. I hope to surf a few peoples couches, and when I'm back I'm looking forward to showing people around my home!
I've mostly stayed with relatives or in backpackers, so couch surfing is a whole new thing. I'm looking forward to it!

Snow Patrol, Dave Dobbyn, U2, Simon & Garfunkel, Rage Against the Machine, Jon Foreman, Norah Jones - tonnes of music.
Tai-Pan (just finished it), The Long Walk.
Amile, Shawshank Redemption, Nowhere in Africa.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Canyoning in Australia, concluding in an abseil down a 30m waterfall - awesome.
Having an elephant chase our car as we tried to get out of the way - in reverse!
Walking 100 km in 29 hours for Oxfem in April 2008. Big challenge and great fun (in parts!)
Teach, Learn, Share
Ha, I want to learn everything! Can teach some simple photography stuff. I know a lot of bits and pieces about a lot of things, but nothing exhaustively.
