COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am glad to have had the opportunity to surf several couches in various countries and to host a lot of different people coming from different places.
I surfed in Wien, Letterkenny, Galway, Dublin, Calgary, Jasper, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Berlin, Wrocław, Köln, Hamburg, Leipzig, Valparaiso, Mendoza, Santiago, Singapore, Bandar Seri Begawan, Seoul, Christchurch, Nelson, Wellington, Turangi, Clarks Beach/Auckland, Nuku'alofa, Brisbane, Kuranda/Cairns, Broome, Exmouth, Carnarvon, Denham, Perth, Fremantle, Rosa Glen/Margaret River, Albany, Adelaide, Melbourne, Mornington Peninsula and Colo/Sydney.
I hosted in Vienna, Schwertberg, Berlin and in my van in Australia.

Sledging down a volcano in Nicaragua with 68 Kph, alongside Halle Berry, her daughter and her bodyguard.
Tattooing the "Haus vom Nikolaus" on my amigos foot in one go. Looks as you might imagine.
Diving WW2 shipwrecks at Busuanga Island.
Snorkeling a Corsair F4U plane, an airplane wreck in the water close to Turtle Bay Airfield and around Million Dollar Point off Vanuatu's coast. Diving the SS President Coolidge off Luganville's shore.
Getting a tattoo by the world's oldest tattoo artist in Buscalan.
Walking in Hundertwasser's footsteps in Kaurinui.
Witnessing Nanghol, the roots of modern Bungee Jumping, on Pentecost Island, Vanuatu. Climbing the tower afterwards.
Feeling constantly scared at the world's former highest bungee platform in Tirol, Austria.
Swimming with ice floes in Hooker Lake, Aotearoa.
Seeing caves glow naturally in Waitomo area.
Spying on North Korea at the Korean Demilitarized Zone.
Tandem-Paragliding over Medellin.
Swimming in and jumping into the Ganga.
Accidentally dropping my phone into a dark, unknowingly deep and narrow rock hole in Kahurangi National Park. Then throwing a 15kg rock on it. It survived, more or less.
Hopping from island to island starting from Panama and ending in Colombia.
Breathing in the spirit of the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair in Bethel, NY.
Flying a 66 year old airplane above Abel Tasman NP.
Meeting and observing animals in their natural environment. (Doing so in zoos is cheating and cruel, no matter how you put it):
In WATER, being granted the chance to come very close to:
Nurse Sharks, Southern Stingrays, 2 kinds of Eagle Rays, a Leopard Shark, Blue Spotted Stingrays, White, Giant and other Moray Eels, Green Turtles, Giant Clams, a Banded-Sea Snake, Manta Rays, Dugongs, Hawksbill Turtles, White- and Black-Tip Reef Sharks and other Shark Species, colour changing Octopi, Nudibranches, a Loggerhead Turtle, Leopard Rays, different kinds of Dolphins, Shovelnose Rays, Cowtail Rays, Smooth Stingrays, different kinds of Jellyfish, a Banjo Shark, an abundant variety of reef fish and corals.
On LAND, getting the chance to meet:
Black Bears, Orangutans, Proboscis Monkeys, Silvered Langurs, Kingfishers in many colours, Slaughs, Spider Monkeys, Grey Langurs, different kinds of Macaques, a Flying Lemur, Little Blue and Yellow-Eyed Penguins, Fur and other Seals, Sea Lions, Keas, different kinds of Possums, different Australian Snakes, a Redback Spider, a Whitetail Spider, Tarantulas, different kinds of Kangaroos and Wallabies, Goannas and Lizards of all sizes and colours, Emus, a Dingo, Estuarine and Freshwater Crocodiles, Quokkas, Bandicoots, Echidnas, Koalas, many sorts/colours/sizes of Parrots, Eagles and Hawks/Falcons, Flamingos, Tucans, Legless Lizards, Turtles, breaching Humpbacks, Scorpions, and lots of different kinds of homo sapiens.
Getting deep into the Bolivian Amazon and meeting some of its inhabitants.
Following the traces of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana in Seattle and coastal Washington.
Being able to see monuments like the Taj Mahal, the Empire State Building, Hoover-Dam, the Petronas Twin Towers, Lady Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, the Colliseum, the Golden Gate Bridge, Pompeji area, the Shwedagon Pagoda, the Nazca Lines, Bagan Tempels and Ruins, Panama Canal, Tikal, Angkor Temples, Akropolis, Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera, Sagrada Famila, St. Peter's Basilica, and Machu Picchu.
Walking the Tongariro Northern Circuit in one day. Lucky enough, I could walk the entire section of the crossing without seeing or meeting another human soul.
Watching the stars in the Atacama Desert, the clearest place on earth.
Enjoying a constant wow-feeling in Banff, Jasper, Yosemite, Tayrona, Eduardo Abaroa, Kakadu, Litchfield, Karijini, Francois Peron, Cape Le Grand, Blue Mountains and Zingaro National Parks; Huacachina Desert and Islas Ballestas Paracas; Salar de Uyuni; Tam Coc area; Athabasca, Fox and Franz-Josef glaciers; Mt. Cook Lakes and National Park; Abel Tasman, Routeburn and Kepler Tracks; Cliffs of Moher, the Great Australian Bight and Madeiras cliffs. The Grand Canyon and Tara Canyon.
Standing on the Equator, the Meridian Zero and Tropics of Capricorn.
Hiking up the Cotopaxi Volcano two weeks before it erupted.
Enjoying Christiania.
Visiting the ruins of the Rishikesh based Ashram where The Beatles experienced meditation in 1968.
Feeling a 6.3 terremoto in Valparaiso, a 6.5 in Mendoza, and a 6.5 in Takaka.
Hiking the West Highland Way.
Living in a van for 1,5 years.
Drinking the cleanest natural water in the world in Nelson Lakes NP. Swimming in the outflow of Blue Lake at 5°C. Brrrrr.
Camping at Champagne Beach. At night, swimming with glowing plankton. All alone.
Attempting to climb true giants in Redwood NP, climbing 58m high Gloucester Tree and 75m Bicentennial Tree in Pemberton, WA. Enjoying a ride in the world's highest carousel in Vienna.
Illegally crossing the boarder to China in Vietnam's far north.
Boating through Palawan's Subterranean River and Lao's Kong Lor Cave.
Seeing blue in Semuc Champey, Matevulu, Mary Kathleen and Mount Gambier. Seeing more than clear at Ojo de Agua, Piula Cave, To Sua, Bitter Springs and the worlds biggest thermal baths Erding.
Standing at the spots where Kurt Cobain, Thích Quảng Đức, Gandhi and John Lennon lost their lives. Visiting the last resting places of Jim Morrison, Bruce Lee, Keith Moon, Sigmund Freud, Freddie Mercury, Gandhi, Hồ Chí Minh, Sautrottel, Rio Reiser, Jimi Hendrix, Hundertwasser, Falco, Heath Ledger and Bon Scott.
Being spooked at Palermo Catacombe dei Cappuccini and Vienna Michaelergruft.
Posting a postcard at the world's only underwater post office in Vanuatu.
Diving and/or snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, Belize Barrier Reef, around Busuanga Island and Palawan, Utila, the Yasawas, Upolu and Savaii, Ha'apai, Espiritu Santo, Ningaloo Reef, Shark Bay, Australia's South and Southwest Coast.
Building wooden structures while Corona-isolating deep in a forest in NSW for 6 weeks.
Not being able to trust my own eyes in Salina Turda.
Meeting the happiest people and their lives on Myanamar's countryside. Getting a smile from everyone on the Samoan islands. Experiencing why Ni-Van people are the happiest on the planet.
