About Me

I’m a cognitive science student looking to dive as deep into the field as I can. It goes without saying that I really love traveling and meeting new people, a cliché phrase but true nonetheless, though not just meeting them, but connecting with them. It may be because this is what I’ve done my whole life and what I continue to do. I lived about 5 years in Japan, Hong Kong, Italy and the United Stares each, and I’m now ready for a few more in Edinburgh. I have a huge love for the city and would be eager to show you around and tell you all I know about it! When I welcome you into my home, be sure I also welcome you into my heart. I love being active and getting involved, trying to keep busy everyday with many different tasks. I have many commitments to my university and outside. My favorite things to do are dance (latin dances and afro mostly!), exercise, read and go on adventures, whether physically or virtually through captivating conversations!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on couchsurfing because it provides me with the opportunity to travel the way I want to: through the eyes and guidance of locals. This to me is a much more personal and genuine way of experiencing a new place. It also allows me to create a network of family and friends all over the world. On top of that, It is efficient both practically and economically, allowing for more of this type of simple yet fulfilling travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: anything that stirs my inner core. Love ‘Africa’ by Toto for many reasons, starting from my fascination with Africa, especially the diversity of cultures there. Love anything acoustic, romantic and all of hip hop. Dermot Kennedy and Frank Ocean encompass the type of vibe I seek when I press play right now.

Movies: Blue Lagoon (the original versions), Inception, Forest Gump, and many more. I like movies that are alternative, things that get you thinking, something like Synecdoche New York that makes no sense and yet touches you profoundly.

Books: I read everything, apart from science fiction although I wish I did get into it. Favorite book as a kid: Alone in a Wide, Wide Sea. Favorite book now: everyone I read, but I always go back to Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swam in the luminous lagoon in Jamaica.
