I'm a 47 year old man with a young heart! Actually, I've been a couchsurfer for about 10 years but I transferred my account to my parents, who live in Scotland, because it was there at our family home that most of the hosting activities took place. Now they are hosting without me! I'm living in Russia these days and working as an academic teacher at the Russian Academy of Sciences as well as doing freelance translation and music writing and performance. I am very active in Russian culture and most of my work is bilingual.

I'm here because I believe in the universality of the human experience and in the central role of hospitality in facilitating an understanding of that universality. I like to meet travellers and spend some time sharing stories and showing them the city that I live in.

Hitch-hiked from East Coast USA to West when I was 19! Changed my life and moved to Russia at the age of 46! Made a reputation for myself as a performing artist in Russia. Failed in many difficult endeavours to which I was absolutely committed, then picked myself back up and started all over again!
