About Me
Hey folks,
my name is Thomas and currently, I live in Oxford, UK. I finished my master's degree in engineering physics and now I'm working as a researcher in Quantum Computing and Natural language processing.
In 2017 I went to Mexico to work as a German teacher at a public school. It was a new task for me and I changed a lot :)
I'm always working on my German/English/Spanish language skills because I think that complex thoughts can only happen when you have an extended vocabulary. I think many people underestimate the power of languages and many people are not "very native" in their mother tongue.
I would consider myself a happy and easy-going person.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Just read any "why I'm on CS" section of any couchsurfing member. I think it's always the same, we all share the same values and that's the point. It's a community which depends and beliefs in the trust of people and I can't describe how it fulfills me, to be trusted and to trust people, even if I haven't met them before.
In a world, where nobody trusts anyone, couchsurfing is a bubble of peace and freedom for me and let's me forget that the world is a place of resentments and prejudices...
I've had my best travel experiences doing couchsufing. I hitch hiked approx. 3 weeks through eastern Germany and I've met a bunch of people who really inspired me and some people, who I would consider as friends now (cheers to Chemnitz ;-))
Interests
My interests change a lot, but for now I like studying new things and simply enjoy live :)
But while everything changes, music is always the one thing which is omnipresent. I'm a passionate dilettante at playing the guitar and I'll do anything to keep my fingers crossing some fretboards :-)
I do some sports and I indeed had a time, where doing sports was one of the most important things in my live. But I came over it and I think I'm way happier right now!
Music, Movies, and Books
Some musicians inspired me a lot, all the way ahead the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I had the chance to see them live this year, which was incredible.
Some others are: Newton Faulkner, Jack Johnson, Coldplay, Damien Rice, Ed Sheeran, Fabian Römer, The Fray, Jamie Cullum; John Mayer (Trio), Oasis, Nirvana, Panic! At the Disco, Queen, Snow Patrol, Twenty One Pilots...
More to follow, I'm open to every unknown musician, so please show me your favorite styles of music.
I love to read and I'm always looking for some interesting authors :) Right now I'm stuck with Paulo Coelho who writes beautiful books! Sometimes I'm a little nerdy and I read books about physics and philosophy :D

I work as kind of a private teacher. I teach maths, physics and in mexico I taught german. I help some students to study for their final exams and I worked at a school to prepare some kids for their mid-levels. So I guess I can teach at least something :)
