About Me
Hey ! My name is Tom, I'm 21 and I'm from Melbourne, Australia. I'm a university student studying english literature, history and French .
Usually I work as a sports coach for kids aged 2-5, which I love to do. But I've just finished up because I am traveling to France to study at a university and then travel around!
I love meeting new people, exchanging stories, and exploring new places. I'm laid back and sometimes quiet. I really enjoy seeing cities but also love wilderness - hiking, cycling, walking and kayaking.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing to make new friends; to meet locals and other travelers; and to experience a place from a local perspective!
I travel alone so it's great to meet people, to have conversations and learn about where I am.
It's not just about finding a place to stay, it's about exchanging experiences and stories and learning about a place from the local people. I want to really immerse myself in a place, rather than just pass through and see the touristy sites.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: I always have at least 4 books on me when I am traveling! I read a bit of everything - fiction, non-fiction, philosophy. I like too many books to have a favourite
Music: my favourite kind of music is usually mellow folk music - Ben Howard: https://youtu.be/ElCDYqcs0gk ; Matt Corby https://youtu.be/pPnA-Vs5ATU . But I enjoy anything really! Kendrick Lamar, Red Hot Chili Peppers....
Movies: Midnight in Paris by Woody Allen; Pirates of the Caribbean (classic).
Television: I love documentaries - Planet Earth 1 & 2 are favourites, so relaxed and interesting! I like detective shows like Midsomer Murders & Lewis; and my favourite comedy is Black Books
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Early this year, I did a 5 day hike in New Zealand with two of my best friends. It was an unreal experience: the walking was hard but so rewarding; the landscapes and views were unbelievably beautiful; and all of the people we met in the cabins and huts were so friendly and warm!
Teach, Learn, Share
Books - always happy to lend my books & talk about books - as I said, I always have about 4 on me!
Photography. I only have a small camera but I love taking photos and love to share them and take photos for people.
Cooking. In France I'm going to be staying in a bakery and learning to make bread!
Languages: I love learning new languages and I am happy to practise English & French with you.
Meditation.
I would love to learn to play music. I love music but I'm hopeless
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm laid back and friendly, and I'm keen to share my stories and experiences with you and to hear about your city/town!
As I guest, I am a very tidy & clean person. I'm also quiet and I respect peoples' personal space.
I'm really passionate about language learning. Very happy to teach/ practise speaking English, French & others.
I also enjoy cooking, making laid back meals or taking some time to make something more complicated; making bread is a favourite. My home city Melbourne is famous for its food, especially breakfasts and health foods!
I'm a tidy person and I want to help keep your home tidy.
