Overview
About Me
I'm just a small town boy from the biggest town in Virginia (Herndon's population is just below the line that separates a city from a town). I always thought I'd leave Virginia someday and ended up working as a volunteer in St. Louis the year after I graduated from Virginia Tech (July, 2014 - June, 2015). I worked with Boys Hope Girls Hope, a non-profit dedicated to providing higher education opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. I lived in a house with several teenage boys where I helped them with homework, studying for tests, and preparing for college.
I'm also a civil engineering major, and will be moving back to Herndon in June to work as a civil/site engineer developing new projects. I love baseball, and feel I had to include that here. I hope to visit all 30 MLB baseball stadiums in my life (preferably to see my team, the Washington Nationals), as well as all 50 states.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I LOVE traveling, but don't have much money, and want to go to destinations where I don't know anyone yet. I also want to create connections with friends across the country and world in many different cities and regions. I hope to see all kinds of people in all kinds of areas (urban, super-urban, suburban, rural). Right now, my focus is to visit areas in the mid-west between St. Louis and Virginia, preferably big cities, but I'm open to new areas as well.
Interests
I love doing anything outside, anything with music, anything with sports, anything with a video camera, or anything with food. I think animals are the coolest and love most animals, though dogs are by far my favorite. I've been learning guitar and ukulele, and have played trumpet since 4th grade. I love watching retired NBC comedies (Parks and Rec, The Office, 30 Rock), and live comedy/improv/stand-up and hope to get involved with comedy someday.

What I Can Share with Hosts
I really like sharing experiences, but often don't do it unless prompted by others/asked. I've been on several week-long service trips that have changed my life in Flint, MI, Chicago, rural Mississippi, and Mexico, as well as a year long position in St. Louis. I was in the Virginia Tech marching band for 4 years, and played at every home game and traveled to away games in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and New Orleans. I love making music with others and can freestyle rap and come up with rhymes on the spot. I've been gluten intolerant all my life, and just love seeing new things and activities.
