About Me

CURRENT MISSION

As I'm no secret agent, my current mission at the moment is to simply live, and enjoy myself doing so. Graduating some day might be a plus, but is not the main goal right now.

ABOUT ME

I live in Nijmegen, which is a significant bit bigger than my home town, but not yet too big. I somehow fell in love with this place. Therefore I am torn between my home in Germany, where still many of my friends want to hang out and/or party with me. Also, my scouting club is located there, so whenever I have the time, I try to participate and organize events and camps.
But of course I also love to stay in Nijmegen and hang out and/or party with my friends here. And honestly, the possibilities of a mid-sized city are much better to have an awesome night out :)

PHILOSOPHY

Be yourself, or as the Dutch say: Be normal, then you're already being crazy enough :) Honestly, I put most value on the simple things in live. I don't understand people that keep chasing "success", whatever that means, and lose sight of the important people and things in life along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far, I haven't hosted anyone on my own couch, but I've been travelling to eastern Europe a couple of times for conferences and to reunite with friends I met during my study and said conferences. It's always been a great experience to get to know people from different countries and cultures, and I mean to keep that up by travelling and also being a host to other travellers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I only stayed at friends' places that I've already met before. This way, I got to see big parts of Slovakia (from Kosice to Bratislava), Hungary (Budapest and Szeged) as well as Riga! It's always been a great adventure and a lot of good memories have been created. So basically, I don't have any experience with this website, but I'd gladly welcome you at my small one-room appartement, which also has a cozy couch :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Loads. Really. Books can be summarized as: everything Terry Pratchett writes (so Discworld and non-Discworld books which are both funny), the awesome "A song of ice and fire" series (which is just the most detailled and intriguing story I've ever read), as well as the "Sword of Truth" series (which has also inspired me on a philosophical level).
Movies are countless. Quentin Tarantino is guaranteed to make movies that I like, so you can basically say that I like dark humor, and also mind-fucking movies like Memento, the Machinist, Eternal sunshine, Shutter Island, (and even though you might not expect that, Sucker Punch surprised me, too!) etc... The IMDB top 250 is also a good indication of more movies that I like.
When it comes to music, I like quite a lot of styles, depening on the occasion. When I go out, the "mainstream" that is played in standard Dutch dance places is fine for me, although my preference would go towards dancehall and latin music as well as "dance" music like David Guetta, Avicii, and similar.
At home I like to listen to my own selection, which also contains a lot by Linkin Park, and several other bands that use more guitars, as well as some German acts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year's international student medical congress in Kosice, Slovakia. The best four days of my life so far!

Teach, Learn, Share

One of my hobbies is Warhammer, a tabletop-strategy game. It basically includes a lot of dices and a lot of miniatures you push around a table. But the thing about it I like most is painting and modelling the figures you use for that game. So if you want to talk about that, be my guest!
