About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Just started setting my life up back in Belgium after exploring the world for the last 3 years. I really miss being on the road though so being a host on couch surfing for me is a way I can still connect with likeminded people whilst giving back.
ABOUT ME
A 25 year old (age is just a number though) guy from Belgium. I would describe myself as relaxed, open-minded and pretty positive. I'm easy to get along with and generally pretty light hearted. Travel really brings out the best in me as I enjoy the simple things nature has to offer. I absolutely love nature, and being active, so on my travels I have enjoyed trying all kinds of new sports but being from Belgium I still have a soft spot for cycling. New interests tap into a bit more of my creative side with photography as I realised while traveling how much the world has to offer and how I really wanted to show people that journey.
PHILOSOPHY
* Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!
* "What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others." - Confucius
* "To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.” – Bill Bryson
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Even though I'm having my CS-profile for several years now, I only started doing actual couch surfing during my 6-weeks road trip in Tasmania, about 2 years ago. And guess what, I loved it, it's just been amazing! I've met some incredibly warm and friendly people, who make the whole travel experience even better. I hope to meet many more!
Together with my (Australian) girlfriend, we have recently moved into a small apartment, 2 minutes walk from the historic centre of Ghent, we really love our neighbourhood and are looking forward to sharing it and our experiences with others, but ultimately what it comes down to is me wanting to give back to the CS community by hosting people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm not the biggest 'book-reading/movie-watching' kinda guy. Don't get me wrong; I really enjoy watching a movie every so often (last seen: 'Into the wild') and reading a book when it grabs my attention, though just like my travels I like to take my time when doing it. Usually I'm more interested in actually getting out and experiencing my surroundings, talking to (the local) people, enjoying nature where I can, and always making time for a sunset.
Music on the other hand, very hard to spend a day without listening to it, maybe because I can bring it with me wherever I go, or maybe just because I feel it can lift me out of anything or intensify any moment. Live (street) performances are the best! I can appreciate whole bunch of different genres, with a slight preference for rock. Last gig I saw was the Foo Fighters in Sydney, just B-r-i-l-l-i-a-n-t!! And I’m looking forward to an upcoming Coldplay show next month.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've done some (in my opinion) pretty cool things, seen some stunning places, met some truly inspiring people, but they all come down to one 'big thing': Making the step from talking about 'traveling around the world', to actually 'doing it'.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always up for learning something new! …Maybe you can also teach my girlfriend to not leave hairpins everywhere (whats with girls and doing that? :P). Wether we can exchange a few words in different languages, or even some easy dancing steps. (I can't teach you dancing steps unfortunately, I might be able to teach you some triathlon basics in case you are interested (not that many people are :P)), Mutual interests might include photography and cooking/eating, would love to share tips and tricks. Anything! Just hit me up, and we'll give it a go!
As much as I enjoy sharing practical knowledge, I don't mind some more philosophical talking about 'life', the universe, and the way we look at it. (Usually over a beer, wine, or maybe a G&T if I’m feeling fancy) I feel experiencing different people and different views its part of life's process of continuous learning.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I like to share my travel experiences, and my photos. I’m pretty handy when it comes to searching and processing information, I have really used this to my advantage while traveling to get the best deals and ultimately would like to one day be in the travel industry, so if my host or guest is interested I can also help them make some of their own future travel plans. Like I said I’m pretty easy going and also love to listen, so hopefully we will get along quite good! I'm always up for a laugh and a good talk, either serious, or just joking around. I also am really good with kids, having young cousins and friends with kids along with training as a lifeguard and in my teen years coaching gymnastics for kids. I love animals also, but unfortunately in our apartment we cant have pets.
