CURRENT MISSION
to measure Life in memories rahter than dollars or days
ABOUT ME
I am a happy guy with great friends living a brilliant life.
I get around a lot (geographically).
I volunteer when I get the chance.
I believe people are too complex for a self summary box.
I enjoy having pen-pals and learning about people I've not yet met as much as visiting a place I've not yet been.
I think starting a bunch of sentences in a row with "I" is lazy and borderline arrogant.
I decided to do it anyway.
PHILOSOPHY
I haven't quite figured this one out yet. But I feel like travel brings me closer to the answer. There is a lot of wisdom in the world but it's diffused among the many people and places this world has to offer.
There is much that I don't know. Luckily, I learn more everyday.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host when I can. I hosted one really nice guy in Baton Rouge for two weeks. But mostly I surf. I'm almost always the road from hither to yon. I've also been to a couple of meetups. One in Mumbai, India and another in Columbus, Ohio. It doesn't really matter which side of Earth you're on; couchsurfers are good people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted twice in Louisiana and surfed twice in India. I've also been to two meetups. All good experiences.
Interests
I'm either traveling or earning money with which to travel later. Often this earning of money also involves travel.
I enjoy reading, am an armchair economist, and absolutely love people.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: I crawl into bed with a book pretty much every night. I have gone to bed with a Stranger in a Strange Land and awoken with The Stranger (different Strangers). Occasionally I am seduced by a childrens book and feel a little guilty afterward. What would my friends think? I'm currently in a long term emotionally abusive relationship with George R R Martin which can not end well. I don't know which seductive worlds will slip between my sheets tonight but I enjoy the mystery and embrace the fiction! (and the non-fiction)
TV: I love books but kinda hate TV. I try to keep up with Dr. Who and Game of Thrones, occasionally watch a game with friends, and otherwise use it as a monitor. That said I'll watch anything with Neil deGrasse Tyson at any time under any circumstance.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Visiting a hospital in Bangladesh. It's unbelievable how many lives a little medicine can save.
The celebration for the completion of rebuilding Dresden,Germany after the firebombing near the end of World War 2.
I am always awestruck by how much all of humanity has in common and the degree to which we pretend the little differences matter.
