About Me

I try to make every day of my life exciting with a positive vibe. In Australia I have lived among the aboriginals, I saved lambs from getting a killing blood disease and I have wrestled with snakes and wild hogs on farms.

In the jungle of North Thailand I trained Muay Thai and pushed my body and mind to the limit in a friendly and welcoming environment with amazing locals.

As one and only Gringo I have been accepted as a member of the fan club of Ecuadorian soccer club Emelec. During my stay in South America I teached English to awesome students and on the streets I got robbed with a gun. In South America I have crossed the most dangerous borders.

Without any motor experience I drove from the north to the south of Vietnam on streets in horribe conditions filled with ghost riders, crossing cattle, water buffalos and insane bus drivers on a crappy bike that had a daily breakdown. I am still here. Let's call it an early Christmas miracle.

In the Outback I have lived for months without television, internet or phone signal and only the basic needs. I worked up to 16 hours a day. As a kid from the television and internet generation this was for sure the hardest task in my life ;).

I studied Communication and Multimedia Design at the University of Amsterdam and have three years of working experience in marketing and online media.

Currently I live in Malta, a small island in the mediterranean. I work as a director at a casino games supplier agency. Malta is considered the iGaming (online casino) hub of the world.

As a teen I worked 7 years in a hardware store.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have millions of travel stories to tell. I have been on the road for over 2, 5 years straight. I have spent one year in Australia, 6 months in Asia, 8 months in South America, 4 months in the states and for the last 7 years I have been living in Malta, a small island in the mediterranean where I work as a director at a casino games supplier (Evolution) . Hotels, guest houses, B&B's are nice, but everywhere I went I loved to hang around as much as possible with locals to get to know the real culture and make friends for life.

Interests

I love to listen to music, go to festivals, watch movies, do sports, blend in with different cultures and learn about other lifestyles.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love electronical music, it's extremely popular in Europe. Next to that I listen to all sorts of music. For example; Die Antwoord, Tracy Chapman, Ed Sheeran, Michael Jackson, Jay-Z, and a lot of hiphop artist from my home country.
My favourite movies are American Beauty, Requiem for a dream and Fight Club.
I am not a big reader, but at the moment I am writing a book about my adventures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On the road I slept 3 nights in a tree house located about 50 meters above the ground with a group of awesome people. Playing Gibbon monkeys woke us up at 5 am.

During a road trip I slept a week in a tent underneath the stars of an extremely clear sky in Australia.

The idea of getting excepted as one and only ‘Gringo’ as being part of the hardest core of a soccer club in Ecuador and all the spectacular moments I experienced in the stadium still give me goose bumps when I think about it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give some nice insights about how I changed my life from normal and relatively unhappy into awesome and a wonderful while I try to make the most of every moment. I learned to plan the least as posible and how to feel comfortable in every situation far away from home. I like to share my life story with everyone and learn from others.

I can teach some Muay Thai and share reasons why I think it can be valuable for everyone to gain more confidence and respect for one another.

I can teach you all about the world of online casino. I have been working in this field for 7 years.

Insights how to beat home sickness, how to blend in everywhere on the globe and how to get a job in a foreign country.

I can share stories about the Australian farm life, the life threatening dangers in South America, money scams in Asia, the best parties around the world and simply how to be happy everywhere you go. My list of travel tips is quite long after two years of wandering around.

Because I love electronic music I can tell every detail of the dance scene in my home country. Mostly mentioned as one of the best scenes around the world.

I would like to learn how to meditate and start again with yoga.
