Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel, and to meet people. Hotels are the same everywhere you go, so I try to stay far away from them. I also love learning languages and culture, and I think there's no better way to do that than being in someone's home for a day or two (or more!). Amo viajar, y conocer a gente nueva. Los hoteles son iguales en cualquier lado, entonces trato de evitarlos cuando pueda. También me encanta aprender idiomas y cultura; y creo que no hay mejor manera de hacerlo que estar en la casa de un local por un día o dos (o más!).

Interests

I'm an opera lover, a certified xenophile, an aspiring polyglot, and I've not got nearly enough stamps in my passport. Soy fanático de la ópera, xenófilo certificado, aspiro ser políglota, y no tengo ni cerca de suficientes sellos en mi pasaporte.

Music, Movies, and Books

For music, I think the list of what I don't enjoy is much shorter, but in any case, I'm easy to please. In the pictures, I think anything that doesn't put me to sleep or make me sick is good! I do love a good story, and I like being forced to think and rethink things. And as far as reading goes, I enjoy García Márquez, Cervantes, Hugo, Orwell, and loads of others whose writings show and inspire thinking. I try to stay away from fad reading too. Para la música, creo que la lista de lo que no me gusta es más corta, pero en cualquier caso, soy fácil de agradecer. De pelis, creo que cualquiera que no me ponga a dormir o me de asco está bien! Me encanta una historia buena, y me gusta que me esfuerce a pensar de una manera nueva. De de lectura, disfruto García Márquez, Cervantes, Hugo, Orwell, y varios otros que demuestran e inspiran el pensamiento. Me encuentro evitando los libros que sean de moda.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I try to get around the right way, hailing cabs in El Salvador, hitch hiking across Honduras, bumming a ride from a fisherman in Panama to have dinner on the islands... The journey is the adventure more so than the destination. Intento de moverme de la manera correcta, llamando a Taxis en El Salvador, por el pulgar en Honduras, pidiendo paso a un pescador en Panamá para cenar en unas islas... Es en el camino que se encuentra la aventura, más que el destino.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach, and have plenty of experience. I recently became a certified English teacher, and plan to use that to make my way around the globe for a little while.
I love learning languages and culture, and I prefer to learn from the source whenever possible.
And Sharing has many applications, and there are few in which I am unwilling to participate, toothbrushes being one in particular.

What I Can Share with Hosts

With hosts, I can share stories, ideas, thoughtful conversation, as well as a cold beer, some (sweet) wine, or a hearty meal (though I don't cook much). I also love teaching (See above 😉) and learning whatever I can. I have all sorts of interests and an open mind, so really, anything goes!
