About Me

ABOUT ME

I generally have a quite optimistic attitude, and tend to think the best of people. I truly believe that in a sense, anything is really possible - all you need is to do is act, and see what happens. Most things and people can catch my interest easily. I tend to try lengthening whatever I'm enjoying by simple doing it, well, slower I guess. Just got my kandidatexamen ("bachelor's degree") at Uppsala University, and will now proceed on a master degree at Lund University. Oh, and sometimes I'm frikkin' lazy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly by couch surfing at other peoples places while traveling. But I have also hosted guests from time to time. I enjoy both aspects :)

Interests

I enjoy reading, especially russian literature, although I try not to be too narrow - anything that seems good, I will give a chance. When it comes to music I can listen to basically anything, but in practice most of the time I find myself listening to music from the 60's, classical music and the occasional modern bands like Crystal Castles, Noah and the Wale, Laleh or Arcade Fire. Art is cool. The natural sciences fascinates me, but I can't manage to grasp them. I'm interested in philosophy, religion, "and those kind of things" - especially if related to late antiqutity. Try to watch movies, both classics and new ones. I like taking walks.

Music, Movies, and Books

Above, I mentioned a bit about my interest in things such as these. I can give you a few teasers as more concrete examples: one of my favorite authors is Dostoyevsky, I l o v e the music made by swedish-iranian artist Laleh and I consider it a shame that modern day Sci-Fi hardly ever reaches the philosophical hights of the classic "2001: A Space Odyessey" (although I agree that one's a tad boring).

And I like Mario. (Yes, yes - Super Mario IS culture. But Luigi would be my man of choice, though.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just to pick two, why not these: Visiting Jerusalem a couple of years ago was inspiring; maybe as close to "magical" I've gotten so far - at least when it comes to visiting places. Something of the same I also experienced while walking around on the islands of the inner hebrides in Scotland with some close friends a few years back. Beautiful, enchanting and inspiring - both the people and the places.
