About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Move to Germany! I'm starting a graduate program at TU Munich in Fall 2023! I've been waiting for years to be immersed in Germany and eastern Europe. I particularly want to learn about the each country's social structures as compared to home.

ABOUT ME
For fun, I love bike touring! Outdoors is my happy place, so I love socializing while on a climb, run, ski, bike, hike, or drinking beer afterwards with fun people. Sharing passions and wild dreams is what keeps life magical!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Time is our only real commodity, so sharing it with other caring, fascinating people is the best path. Learning the shape of other adventurer's souls is beautiful. I love sharing unexpected stories and the little details that illuminate the parts of life we care about.

I would LOVE to pay forward the loving hospitality I've received at random while backpacking far away places. Sharing my tips on specific past travels and hearing yours is great too.

Interests

If it's outside I love doing it. I found running in high school and took that fitness to other wilder outdoor places where I've found personal growth from time outside. Solo, or with a group of friends, this is where I reconnect and find my gleeful love of life! These places allow focus on the big questions in life: morality, purpose, consciousness in a vast universe.

Giddy fun sports: Road, Mountain and Bike Touring, Running, Backcountry skiing, Rock climbing, swimming...
I also enjoy good beer (will happily shotgun cheap beer any time) and pretend to know a little about wine, but mostly it makes me smile regardless :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While backpacking through Peru there bunches of amazing moments that I'll remember for ages. I sprinted up the stairs to Machu Picchu and was the first one into the park at 6AM, motorcycled around the peninsula by Isla del Sol in Lake Titicaca at sunset, and planted quinioa in the altiplano with close friends...

But what I'm most personally proud of is climbing a 19,100' volcano, alone in one day. The mountain was El Misti and I didn't see a soul from the moment I left the road till the moment I got back. The climbing (hiking) wasn't hard, but the altitude made it the most challenging day of my life. 12 hours of intense pushing up the continuous ash covered slope, finally allowed me to reach the summit. Every step lead to thinner, colder air and it took all my mental determination to keep going through the pain without the encouragement of others.

This internal challenge turned the physical journey into a spiritual and mental journey. Sometimes you have to go far away to really look inside yourself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to exchange languages with you! I'm fluent in English and speak intermediate Spanish, just started learning German. Let's talk!

I am energetic and always happy to go hiking, climbing, skiing. I'd love to share my maps and plan a trip with you.

Love talking science and sharing amazement at understanding the tiny fraction we know of how the universe works.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Time, laughs, deep conversation, care, bike maintenance.

"...time becomes the only possession, and everyone is equally rich in it by biological inheritance. Money, of course, is still needed to survive, but time is what you need to live. So save what little money you posses to meet basic survival requirements, but spend your time lavishly in order to create the life values that make the fire worth the candle." - Ed Buryn
