About Me
CURRENT MISSION
grow a lot of food and be kind to everyone. raise a decent boy. unpack toxic masculinity and other harmful socializations I've learned.
ABOUT ME
I was raised in Arkansas. I left. I've lived in Spain and Costa Rica and I've settled down in Olympia, WA. It suits me perfectly. It was here I met my future wife, Monica, and it also where we raise our son. I play classical guitar and I spend too much time on the internet. Let's hang out!
PHILOSOPHY
I believe I can learn from all kinds of people, even those I politely disagree with. I will gladly engage anyone in a civil discussion on religion (or politics). Or not, that's cool too. I think everyone's got something to offer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host every chance I get. Almost never do I say no because I love showing Olympia off so much.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hosted and surfed a lot, had superb experiences every time. Humanity has got a chance.
Interests
I'm into music, reading, traveling, language, cooking, fermenting, foraging, word games, bicycling, snowboarding, yoga, bad jokes, singing, dancing, thinking hard about things, good food and good times. I play guitar but I'd prefer to listen to someone else play.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really love movies. I'm not that picky, but I prefer documentaries.
Same with music - I like almost everything. Dance, indie pop, psych rock, a little hip hop, sometimes krautrock is cool. I'd say my favorite kind of music is drone music or medieval chant, also music for 18 musicians by steve reich always puts me in a trance.
A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole and All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren. Also 100 Years of Solitude. Eduardo Galeano is great. Mostly read about politics and history these days.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been to all 50 states. I graduated with a music degree while double majoring in Spanish; this was more work than any job I've had since. I spent 3 weeks in Thailand. Saw the northern lights. Saw the glow of an active volcano in Hawaii.
Summer of 2012 I bicycled from Olympia, WA to San Diego, CA.
Now I'm a dad. Yay!
Teach, Learn, Share
I speak Spanish pretty well and I love language. I also love music. I guess I have some insight on guitar playing but I'd rather hear what yours is.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I've lived in Olympia a long time now and have a pretty good handle on what it has to offer. Whether your thing is food, nightlife, nature, dancing, playing, whatever, I probably will have a decent suggestion for you.
We also have a super cozy home, if I say so myself.
