About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"To create an intentional community on our 75 acre homestead in Nova Scotia; to see other parts of the world and experience different landscapes and most of all, to be connected to lots of people and learn how they do things in their corner of the world."

ABOUT ME

I like design, walking trails, sculptures, alternative style buildings and travel. In the past few years we have visited France, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Mexico and traversed the southern US.

PHILOSOPHY

Our vision for our home, Red Clay, is to create an alternative community where friends can live sustainable lives while also having a space to make art.
"What is life but farming and art?"
We love welcoming people to our home, but don't be surprised if we ask you to help us garden for a couple of hours or clear a trail for a morning in exchange for a tasty food! We love to involve people in our crazy projects! every moment is precious.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have a beautiful place overlooking the Bay of Fundy. It has la few couches and sleeping lofts where people can stay. We love to share the experiences of travelers who visit and meet new friends and we like to share interesting meals. There are great hiking trails nearby and we have a big garden.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Happy to sleep almost anywhere. I visited and met several couch surfing hosts in France. It was an amazing way to connect with people. Before that we have stayed as a volunteer with alternative housing hosts in Arizona, and on other travels have often been graciously offered places to stay by people we have met.

Interests

Functional art and architecture, design, planning hiking trails. Organic gardening. Hiking and running (especially on the beach). Community development. Alternative buildings.

Music, Movies, and Books

All kinds of music (blues, jazz, contemporary music, everything except Celine Dion). I am always interested in what's new.
Literature..Not wanted on the voyage, half a yellow sun, God of small things.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The tides roaring around Cape Split near where we live. Accidentally walking into a black bear in Jasper. Sleeping on the slopes of an active volcano in Guatamala.

Teach, Learn, Share

We have a homestead with a large organic garden and like to learn about and share alternative lifestyles. Each year we plan and design buildings and projects that experiment with form and function. We look for people in our global community that we can visit and learn about new places and cultures.
