I am a Dutch guy who just got a bachelor in Tropical Forestry. For my study I traveled quite a bit, Honduras, Guatemala, Suriname, Ecuador, Indonesia, Malaysia and I was a wee while in Timor-Leste. I did some traveling in Europe by car since our continent is super convenient to go about.
Currently I do not really have a job, but my plan is to go to Australia to work and live in Melbourne and Adelaide.
I really dig all kinds of music, but Spotify tells me that New Wave is my favorite, with bands like the cure and the smiths. Although I enjoy techno, reggae, blues and what not.
I do read a lot of books which are considered to be classics. Current reads are the golden bough, reveries of a solitary walkers, communistic manifesto and Lord of the Rings.
Furthermore I like camping. A lot :), and I like to be in cities, go to musea, check out cool parties and.. House parties #woehoe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, I am on couch surfing because I go about on my own often, but I don't like being alone all the time ;). So I figured this is a really cool way to meet new friends and hang about with cool people. In my mind I just thought about chilling with people and eating together, which seems nicer than going out on my own, and obviously hanging with locals is often cool because they can tell you stuff about where you are. I take an interest in lots of local cultures and stories about the neighbourhood.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hunter S. Thompson was for a long time my favourite author, but lately I did not read much of him. The books I like most are lots of penguin classics like 1984, on the road, robinson crusoe, junky, rum diary, but I am currently reading the Lord of the rings, quite some Charles bukoweski, Dutch poetry, and those are smashing as well. Sometimes I read dutch books or nowadays romans like Stephen King and Dan Brown. But I think as favourites I stick to the classic influential books.
I listen to lots of different bands (like most people I guess) but I like Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Joy division, the like a lot. As well as the Cure. Sometimes I am in a different mood and I listen to music like the Underworld or Die Antwoord or the Prodigy.
And I like Trainspotting and Berlin Calling, but also the Lord of the Rings, Grease and Shutters Island.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Honduras and Ecuador to do my internship at respectivaly a biological cacao farm and a massive permaculture farm. Those experiences where life changing for me, but one of the most beautiful things I have seen during my time there was a big eruption of Fuego, a volcano in Guatemala where I did a tour. This was some beautiful violence.

Teach, Learn, Share

After my study I would like to live in Germany, so I am really eager to learn the language. It is in most aspects quite similar to Dutch, so I think I can have small talk in German.
Also I take an interest in philosophy. I listen to philosophy podcasts during my work and I wonder about other peoples world view.
I think I can teach you everything about permaculture, since I want to live in such a community. Food forests and stuff. And I can cook delicious roti.
I like to share a good time and good meals ;)

I lately learned to make smashing roti (surinam dish) which I can share.
Well, I can share some knowledge about my life in the Netherlands, and from my worldview and how it is shaped. We can also share playlists on spotify.
