About Me

Hello everyone! My name is Tom. I am currently living in a remodeled travel trailer in Tempe, Arizona working for myself as a general contractor (bathrooms, kitchens, etc). I started using couchsurfing in 2012 and have had amazing experiences domestically and internationally and I am looking forward to more positive experiences.

I have been on lockdown per say for the past couple of years as I drove my business forward. Now that I am professionally stable I would like to get back out there and meet other like minded people and explore new cities.

I do have a strong personality and I enjoy a darker sense of humor and sarcasm. I love to laugh and usually can be caught laughing at my own jokes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am hoping to meet new people and get a glimpse into a different culture and way of life wherever I may end up. I am using couch surfing solely as an addition to the experience and not due to financial circumstances. That being said I am hoping to spend some time with my host in addition to solo time spent exploring in my own way.

Interests

Recently I have gotten back into guns, learning gunsmithing, and shooting cowboy action shoots (this is where a bunch of old guys get together dressed as cowboys and shoot metal targets quickly with old style firearms). Outside of my construction job I also road bike, mountain bike, hike, and maintain my 90 Isuzu Trooper and tool trailer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maitenence, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior, The Alchemist, Striking Thoughts by Bruce Lee, The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari, Into the Wild. Mostly philosophy, spiritual, and adventure books. I love action/drama/comedy films and I love Futurama, Family Guy, and American Dad.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One memorable instance was when I was cycling in Ireland. I cycled to a "national park", locked my bike to a tree and hiked into a bog for many miles. I spent a few days on the only patch of dry dirt in the center of the swamp, watching the sheep eat and tend to one another. After sunrise on the third day I climbed the tallest peak in sight and had lunch on top, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and most of Ireland's west coast. I felt like the king of the world and at that moment, I was completely content.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn, a lot! I would like to learn more about outdoor survival skills, nutrition, health, and general knowledge about the world and cultures. I feel that I also have a lot to share and hopefully one day my actions will inspire others.
