About Me

I have a good time. I take photos. I spend time outdoors.
I eat well. I treat others well. I can't decide whether to switch to one space after periods from two spaces after periods.

I take several road trips each year, through driving my own car, ride share, or by bike. I have found that ride share and bike camping give me richer experiences with people than does driving from place to place by myself and staying in individual campsites or hotels. I think couch surfing is another opportunity to connect with people as I travel, or with travelers coming my way.

My personality is very easy-going and accepting. I am friendly and approachable, while I also like my own space and quiet time, and while I can party, I am more likely to look for a beer and conversation than a huge club to dance in. I like to walk around new places, especially outside of the regular tourist spots.

Also, every two weeks, I buy fresh flowers for my living room and bathroom.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to host as a way to welcome people to where I live. I value people who take the risks of meeting strangers and going to new places.

I would like to surf for experiences with people: exploring side streets, laughing at dive bars, cooking new food (for at least one of us), finding out what the guidebooks are missing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music about where I'm from: Tejano, country, rock, indie, singer-songwriter, rap from TX, OR and California.

Movies that make an effort. I want a story, not a commercial.

Books: Douglas Coupland, Willy Vlautin, Claire Vaye Watkins.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While on a trip hundreds of miles away from home and out of cell phone range, I got a flat tire on a deserted road, and my spare tire went flat right away. Then, I walked two miles rolling my flat tire alongside me, until I made it to the highway, where I was able to hitchhike to a place to get the tire fixed. The amazing part is that I went from flat tire to back on the road in only 2 hours, thanks to help from others and the choice to risk walking far with the tire instead of waiting.

Teach, Learn, Share
