About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To expand my humanhood, to discover new worlds, and to enrich myself, and I hope others, through exposure to new ways of life.
ABOUT ME
I traveled the world (nearly 100 countries in two years) and throughout considered myself a cultural exploration, non-profit volunteer, and amateur photographer.
The non-profit I donated some of my time to is an education initiative that highlights the similarities and differences in the lives of children across the globe through direct interaction. I interviewed kids in different countries, and we talk about life, culture, beauty, normalcy, and the future. Honestly, these times spent with family are the BEST moments of travel, for me.

I want who I am to be broadened and developed into a more compassionate and open-minded person. I believe in the greatest of humanity, and I want to explore the aspects of it, and celebrate this marvelous landscape we live on.
That said, I'm SO human.... So I'm far from perfect and make mistakes on the regular. We just learn and live and love and keel on, don't we?
PHILOSOPHY
I believe deeply and truly that ALL things work together for Good in the end, given time and perspective. I don't believe everything happens for a reason, but I believe you can find a reason for what happens in life. I believe in the human heart, even when there's little evidence to support it. I believe in the Why's behind the What's. I believe that crying is as important and valuable as laughing. I believe in love, and it's mysterious power to make change.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've CouchSurfed my way from the North of Canada down to the End of the World in Ushuaia, South America, and nearly every country in between. I took a boat across the Atlantic and continued CouchSurfing from Portugal to Poland, from Ireland to Turkey, from Finland to Montenegro, covering almost the entire continental portion of Europe and more. I gone from Morocco to Egypt, around the Red Sea into the Middle East and down through the jungles and deserts to the Soutern Cape of Africa. I've played Holi in India, and stayed in yurts in Mongolia, and climbed the Himalayas, Couchsurfing from Siberia through Eastern Asia and China to SE Asia and the island nations.
I won't be the first person to declare that meeting new faces and learning about them while exploring new places can be the BEST part of travel. The people I've met who have opened their doors and hearts and minds (and refrigerators) to a stranger, in hopes that he will become a friend, is inspiring, uplifting, and life-changing.
Next to come? I'm back in the USA, enjoying home and finding out who I am now. I have a lot to look forward to.
Let's be friends! Let's meet and share and exchange and change and grow. Let's be friends.
Interests
I love to eat!!!! :-P There is just something fantastic about sharing a meal with someone.... You nurture each other gastronomically and emotionally and intellectually and socially... Ah, food is the... well... food of life!
I also enjoy trying things that I haven't done before. I look for opportunities that are select to a specific time, place, people, culture, or situation. These are not always comfortable or pleasant experiences, but I think all experiences are learning experiences. Outside of that, I find a passionate and deep delight in beauty, especially the beauty of an unbroken landscape, in our human bodies, and our capacity to create. I still audibly gasp at a vividly sunlit cumulus cloud, a light-painted mountain, a velvety blanket of green laid across a hill be speckled by rainbows of wildflowers, the hypnotic undulation of the oceans breathing, the ballet of autumn leaves that dance from brown branches to a barren ground, the thrill of golden sunbeams breaking through an emerald canopy... It's the closet thing to magic, for me... I also enjoy the outdoors, local culture, art, music, food, theater, and special events.

Music, Movies, and Books
It's shorter to list what I don't like... ;-) I don't watch horror, excessive gore, or crude humor. For music, I generally enjoy anything that feeds me emotionally. Exceptions are songs where people are put down, belittled, objectified, or marginalized. Angry-sounding music doesn't appeal to me much, but I'm generally open to most genres and styles. I can read generally fiction, for pleasure, but have been caught with philosophy or science fiction/fantasy. But I'm very open to reading just about anything for discussive purposes.
Overall, I avoid what degrades or corrodes my spirit, or robs my energy, and I pursue what feeds my soul, nourishes, or inspires me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was twenty-seven years old, having worked at a major, corporate wealth management firm for a while, up and quit my job to travel, spend my savings, and see the world for two years (all without insurance.... ;-)
Take a look at the countries I've traveled to see how far along I am. In the end, the goal is to reach 100 countries. Let's see if we make it! ;-)
Teach, Learn, Share
I wish to see more. There's SO much world! And I am excited to taste it.
I can't truthfully claim to have anything particularly special to offer except a what's in my human character and curious mind. I don't know a lot of important people or have exclusive access to fabulous places. I just love this world, and I want to learn to love it better, and it's inhabitants. I'm not excessively talented or adorned with diligently honed skills, but I love to learn, and I'm a dedicated student. I dabble in many things, but excel at few. While surface-scratching may not be the most thorough way to go about things, there are just so many Things! I haven't the time to do them all! :-)
Day to day, I'm typically tend to be as polite as I feel I ought to be, but that's US American manners, so I hope not to inadvertently offend anyone with my naivety! I'm enthused and motivated to latch on to a local and follow them where the may lead. I'm open to new things, that's why I'm here. :-) In a home, I like to keep a clean and organized space. I would like to help out to clean or do dishes, help cook or attend to what I can. I try to be respectful, considerate, and authentic, but that can be a difficult balance. :) If anything, I want to err on the side of propriety partnered with truth. But I also enjoy one-on-one conversation, want to hear life stories, and see a new cultural dynamic in it's organic form. I also can be very quiet... I'm a wallflower by instinct, and while I'm practiced in gregariousness, I am very comfortable saying nothing, being still, and just trying to enjoy the world for what it is in that moment. I like my alone time, but enjoy spending it with others, as well.
All in all, I believe myself to be very flexible and willing. I won't promise that I'm perfect or that I won't have a hiccup or two, but I hope to make up for it in my sincere desire to just Be who I am. Whoever that may be at the time. :-) Please ask questions! I'm happy (and look forward to) reading and responding to them.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I enjoy discussing humanity and history, probing philosophy and nature. I want to experience the world from another culture, and I am truly happy to offer my world view in exchange (and some English or Spanish practice while we do it!). I'm clean and tidy, and LOVE to eat, but also would like to help you cook and then clean up after. I can offer conversation and or quiet company, and I hope to leave having expands who I am by learning who you are.
