About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I have never really traveled, except to a few random places in the US. I am a dual-language teacher so I REALLY want to travel to a Spanish speaking country and am hoping to host and surf with people who I can speak Spanish with!.

ABOUT ME

Well, I am writing this at 3:00 in the morning before the start of a work week, when I should be in bed sleeping...if that gives you an idea. I just could not sleep, there is so much to do before the school year ends and I have a lot of energy right now.

The anonymity of the world wide web invites a lot of honesty, doesn't it?

Two things people are generally surprised to learn about me are that, even though I am a people-person and love socializing, I do not go out as often as I like and can be shy and a bit socially awkward at times. Second, despite being outspoken and outgoing, I occasionally have issues with confidence and asserting myself.

I'm not spell checking any of this by the way, so I hope it makes sense. I burned both of my thumbs cooking corn today and that really bothered me. Thanks for reading!

PHILOSOPHY

I am generally and genuinely a very happy, positive and energetic person. Life is awesome and full of good things worth acknowledging and celebrating! Rock on!

I think sometimes about all the wonderful people I've been fortunate enough to meet, work with or call friend. And, in so doing, I am overwhelmed with an uplifting feeling of how much of a true blessing that is. I hope I keep meeting more of these special people in my life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not really sure what this question is asking...with enthusiasm?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A friend in college would RAVE about couch-surfing and I always thought it sounded a bit wacky. But here I am! She always tried to get me to go with her to the New York City couch-surfing meet-up events.

Interests

Here are a few off the top of my head:

speaking and learning more spanish
working with young children and their families
the politics of education
reading
dancing
eating
laughing with others and making people laugh
being outside when it's beautiful
appreciating life's many blessings
playing with my cat
spending time with my family eating dinner or watching movies
talking with my friends in person
trial advocacy
public speaking
supreme court/jurisprudence
classical music
singing
pretending to sing opera

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots and lots. There are many. Too many to name. But a friend of mine has an IMDB account with some notoriety. Pretty neat, huh?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've had the great privilege this year of being a founding teacher in New York's first progressive, public dual language school. It's been an amazing adventure so far.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know A LOT about undergraduate mock trial - which is a fake trial-advocacy competition for students interested in becoming attorneys. They pretend to be attorneys and witnesses in a fake civil or criminal trial. It's totally awesome and addictively fun. This was (and still is) a huge passion of mine in college.

I can sing and know a thing or two about that, too. I'm also a teacher so - to me, that means I'm curious about learning and sharing lots of things! I have a good "musical ear," so to speak.

Y hablo espanol tambien! :-)
