About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Looking for a room in brussels

ABOUT ME
In early 2013 I left Belgium to go on a big adventure in Oceania and I've been going ever since. The past 3 years I have been traveling, working and volunteering around Australia, Vanuatu and New Zealand. But, unfortunately there comes an end to every story. My 2 month visit to Japan will be the very last leg, and worthy conclusion of, this epic journey. Couchsurfing and volunteering have always been an indispensable part of my travels. They have given me the opportunity to get to know locals, their culture and way of life. I love the inter-cultural exchange that is one of the ground-layers of what Couchsurfing is all about. Accordingly, my philosophy is that learning about each other's differences, backgrounds, cultures...makes people rich. Having inter-cultural exchanges broadens my mind and contributes to some more tolerance, patience and understanding.

PHILOSOPHY

Tolerance, patience, understanding and a few laughs make all things easier.
With an open mind I travel, having intercultural exchanges broadens my mind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

With enthusiasm, humor and friendliness!
The world is a very diverse place, so lots of different and interesting people to meet and to exchange ideas, experiences, stories and backgrounds with.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had several experiences in Australia, New Zealand and Japan, some in Europe. For the rest a lot of very diverse experiences during my travels: Lifts who offer you to stay at their place, camping with random people you meet on the road, villa-sitting in southern France, volunteering for room and board on farms,...
Forms of couchsurfing can be found everywhere!

Interests

movies, music and books sums it pretty much all up when I'm not traveling around.
Currently: getting to know Japan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent the last 3 years traveling Australia, Vanuatu and New Zealand: https://journals.worldnomads.com/thomasz/

Teach, Learn, Share

Hope to learn a few Japanese words and phrases.
Would appreciate some good travel advice, what not to miss out on in Japan.
Learning about each other's ways of life. What would a local do?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm easy going and easily pleased. I always try to be clean and considerate of the host. Ask me anything, I'm always sincere (which is not the same thing as being serious).
