About Me

I'm a pretty laid back fellow. I'm pretty stoic at first, but once I get going we can stay up talking about any number of subjects until the sun comes up or the coffee runs out. I love a good beer, but they are even better with a friend. I have lived in a number of American cities including New York, Los Angeles, Memphis, and more. I love to build things. Sometimes it's a piece of art and sometimes it's finishing a basement. I just love the feeling when a project is complete.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The short answer is because couchsurfing was recommended to me by a friend, but the long answer is that I have always opened my home to people that were passing through. I like to meet new people, and I love it when old contacts come back through again. This seems like a good way to make new friends and experience real cultural exchange.

Interests

  • heavy metal

Music, Movies, and Books

I love beck a lot. I also love music that makes me laugh, so Tenacious D is a favorite. I think a good song is a good song, and I try to have an open mind. I love exposing someone to a new sound or song.

I'm a big fan of any movie or book that creates a new universe like the Lord of the Rings trilogy, star trek, comic books, or the matrix, to list just a few examples. I also really enjoy post apocalyptic or distopian stories like Mad Max or Elysium.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had an internship at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art (MoCCA) in NYC. It was an amazing experience that I really enjoy talking about.

Teach, Learn, Share

These types of situations are always good for cultural or linguistic exchanges. I love to help with a project too. Hell, I still think shoveling snow and chopping wood is fun and a good workout.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A little cultural exchange obviously, but as a host I can offer a place to rest that constantly has interesting people coming in an out. I have a number of art projects going on at any given time. I someone was interested we can fire up the forge or the furnace and do a bit of metalworking, even if all we are doing is pouring molten aluminum in anthills. In the US I live with my brother and his wife. She is an amazing cook and artist and my brother is easily one of the most interesting people one can meet.
