About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Mad culinary science. Also, figuring out how people work.

ABOUT ME

Anthro nerd with a serious jones for cooking and baking here. I love to meet new people, and I love good conversation, and I have more books and comics than anyone I know.

PHILOSOPHY

It's hell of a lot of fun being me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly I've been surfing with my brother when we are on the road. At home, I participate in couch-surfing potlucks, and try to show the town to people who come through. So far, I've been unable to offer a couch - but I hope to soon!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Oh wow ... probably my favorite one was a big bonfire on the beach in LA. I ended up chitchatting with an aerospace engineer about space travel, and commercial space flight, and totally nerded out on it.

Interests

Comics, books, writing, anthropology, debate, pop culture, drag, cultural theory, yoga, cooking, cooking, cooking, baking!

Music, Movies, and Books

Not much of a movie person. I lack the attention span. When I can focus, I love me some Tarantino, Guillermo del Toro, Peter Jackson, Stanley Kubrick . . .

I read a lot of science fiction novels and a lot of anthropology texts. Particularly into the dynamics of disease epidemics. Soooo . . . E. Evans Pritchard, Edward Said, Zora Neale Hurston, Philip K Dick, Samuel R. Delaney, Ursula K. LeGuin, Michael Chabon, etc.

Also into comic books! I'm a fan of Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, David Mazzuchelli, Chris Ware, and any number of others.

I really like local music. If you're coming to town to see a show, hit me up, yeah?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Biked along the Rhine for a few days

Teach, Learn, Share

If you meet me, I can probably get you hooked on comics--I'm good at recommendations and lending.

I can also teach you how to bake some easy breads. Bread is wonderful stuff. People who like to exchange bread recipes, well, we'll get along real well.

Wanna meet some good cooks, gardeners, that sort of thing. Brain exchange?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to teach recipes, and to learn new ones! I'm a hell of a cook

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Cayman Islands, Colombia, El Salvador, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In
