To satisfy my need for being healthy, playing in the dirt, adventuring and finding what makes me happy.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Alaska and love the open spaces and lifestyle here. When I grow up I want to grow food for people and work to spread the good word about the benefits of eating your veggies! Growing and gathering food, yoga and being in nature are what keep my happy and grounded. I also crave periodic adventure to keep things exciting and my perspective in check.

I love to stay with local people while I'm travelling to get a true feel for the culture and everyday living.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All the couch surfing experiences I've had so far have been fantastic. Everyone I've met has been amazingly open, friendly and welcoming.

兴趣

I love being outside and most anything that gives me an excuse to get out there--camping, hiking, snowboarding, rock climbing, biking, kayaking, ultimate frisbee, the list goes on. My true love though is food--eating, cooking, growing my own, preserving, gathering and hopefully one day soon, hunting. I also play guitar, take photos, and, of course, enjoy travel.

The Omnivore's Dilemma was the book that got me interested in food. I kind of see it as my holy grail. I think everyone should read it. It gives a great, well told version of where our food comes from, something that most people probably don't even think (or care) about. I'm a big Will Ferrell fan so I'd probably have to rate Anchorman as one of my all-time favorite movies. As for music, I'm partial to Ray LeMontagne, Mazzy Star, Explosions in the Sky, Gillian Welch, Beirut, Basia Bulat and Mumford and Sons. On the other end of the spectrum I also love me some rap and hip-hop to get me pumped up.

Got to swim with pink dolphins in a river in the Amazon jungle and have two of them brush up against my legs. Slightly scary, but pretty amazing.
