About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I have a strong desire to open an international hostel. In the meantime I feel that life is better and fuller when you share your time and resources with travelers. My mission is to exchange stories. Most recently, I just got back from a trip to Canada. I was totally blown away. This was the first time in all my 32 years I have traveled internationally, and I did it to go to a BurningMan regional event called Burn in the Forest/Burn on the Fraser/Bugs in the Face/ X in the Y (There's a story there).
ABOUT ME
I've found a sense of adventure in building community through Burning Man & CouchSurfing. After participating in an international camp, at BurningMan, my friends and I decided to start our own. The camp that we held for two years felt like home, and hosting people before and after has been the best part of my year. Because of my job I have a lot of free time in the summer, Mid-June thru Mid-August, and I'm looking forward to hosting and showing people around. I know some great spots at Tahoe, and I'm pretty familiar with Reno's DownTown / MidTown District (always something cool going on in July). Winter is a great here also. My place is 30mins to the closest ski resort, and no more then 1:45 from most of the rest.
PHILOSOPHY
As I child I always cherished the times that our house was fulled with family. As an adult I realized every human on earth is your family.
I also have a strong faith in technology and human endeavor. I believe technology is like a gun. If you use it to hurt the weak and innocent your an asshole. If you use a gun to hold off Loki's henchmen, while IronMan fixes the turbo fans on your flying aircraft carrier, in that case your Captain F*@$ America! It's just a question of how your using it. The internet has made it possible for not just information, but for deep relationships to form over great distances. And when one is able to meet people and get to know people in this way, when they do meet it's like they hadn't been apart. Or you can burn your life away watching Netflix and posting memesy-me-me-memes. Same technology different out comes. I look for ways to enhance my life, and try to kick out distractions. CouchSurfing has been a big part of that for me.
Personal Motto: Everyone is else is you just living a different life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far I just participate by hosting. I plain on traveling, but hosting has been a little too much fun.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted burners and surfers for 8 years. The most we had at one time was 25ish (simply an amazing experience!) I generally host 1 - 2 people per month and enjoy them all! I also hope to do some traveling in the future and will definitely be calling on my peep's to host, but haven't done any surfing of my own yet.
Interests
I'm interested in the Sciences and Spirituality. It sounds crazy nerdy, but I feel a near-spiritual connection with science and human discovery. It not only fascinates me, but also gives me hope. I listen to a lot of podcasts. While podcasting I like to walk my dogs, ride my bicycle. I'm also an avid reader. My other major interests are Burning Man, cars, motorcycles, and strategy board games.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Feel Gooders (Second Hand Lions, American Beauty, Little Miss Sunshine) Comedy (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, EuroTrip, Step Brothers) Christmas traditions (Elf, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, It's a Wonderful Life) Good Any Time (Ferris Buellers Day Off, The Big Lowbowski, The Marvel series, The Usual Suspects, TrueLies, Kill Bill (1&2)
Music: Basically anything you'd hear in a Hookah Lounge. I'm also into DubStep (my 5 year old Daughter loves it), Folk Rock, and I'm really into Tool.
Books: The Giving Tree, The Tao Te Ching, Atlas Shrugged, Crime and Punishment (parts anyway (that shit is dense)), and I'm current with The Song of Ice & Fire series (and strut like a God among men, while we party watch the HBO show). And The Horus Heresy Series from Black Library Books has been a love/hate relationship for 24 books now...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My friend and I created, organized, and lead the 1st Black Rock City Zombie Crawl. It was a great success, and we ran the BRCZC for two years after that. That isn't the amazing thing though.
In 2012 I meet a women, from SanDiego, at BurningMan. She told me about how here life had changed since her first burn. She changed jobs, and changed, as she put it, "life paths." The new career she went into was non-profit fund raising, and the first event fund raiser she ran was the first SanDiego Zombie Crawl. Her life changing burn was the last year I ran the BRCZC, and she loved spending a night on Playa as a Zombie. She told me that I had inspired her. She said that in 2012 her Zombie Crawl raised $75K for SanDiego charity's. Something about all of this took my breathe away (still does). It's incredible how lives touch lives.
Teach, Learn, Share
Life around you is a collection of stories, newly interpretted from a long line of retelling. Recognize your story as it's been told to you. Embrace it. Interpret it. Then tell the world your own.
