Overview
About Me
I'm from Portugal, where I grew up with my family and friends. While growing up I always felt attracted to biology and health and when the time came to take a jump into university I chose nursing.
After taking my degree in Nursing in Portugal I flew to England and started working as a nurse in England where I'm currently living.
My outgoing and optimistic character helped me taking this decision who viewed it as a challenge I could take. I never looked back and was one the best decisions I could have made in my life as I feel that it opened my mind towards people and cultures but mainly I felt it made me grow as a person.
I used to swim for over 5 years, which I love doing but nowadays that only happens when I go to the beach. In the meantime I started running on a weekly basis and am currently trying to stretch my endurance to a modest 10 miles (which will be a massive achievement for me as I always hated running!).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
There was a day in my teenage years I decided to get out of my comfort zone and put myself out there to new experiences. My first big step in that way was to participate in the World Youth Journey back in 2005 which is one of my dearest memories in my life. Second big step was to go to work to another country that I had never even visited before and where I knew no one beforehand. Lived a lot, learned a lot but I still want a lot more.
I feel that at this stage of my life I need to get out of my comfort zone once again and therefore I'm actively trying to travel around the world to know this place and these people that are all somehow connected to each other.
What I'm looking for is not to visit those iconic buildings that everyone knows about. I would rather learn about the stories of the unknown cities and the coffee shop that the locals go to, loose myself either in a city or in a beautiful landscape of a village and maybe share myself with someone who would have time/interest in hearing a bit about me.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am not an avid book reader at all but my favorite book was Pillars of the Earth, it totally hooked me from beginning till the end.
I like most types of music but lately I have been more attracted to House.
Finally I have to say that throughout my life I've never watched much television (apart from the cartoons as a kid) but a movie that I saw last year and absolutely loved is Kingsman. It's spot on on my taste and I think the humor is brilliant.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
