We’re Emily and Tiago, from London and Lisbon respectively. We’re coming to South America for a few months to do some travelling just after getting married and we're en route to live in Vancouver, Canada for a year.

In our spare time we love cooking. We are so lucky living in London because we have the most amazing amount of restaurants and cuisines to chose from. Anything from Thai to Vietnamese to Afghani food goes! We love spending as much time as possible outdoors (we love sunshine!) so we spend lots of time in parks in London or escaping to the countryside for walks. Sports-wise, Emily is a regular tennis player and Tiago plays football and touch-rugby. We try to run and work out when we can. Our intentions are always good but sometimes life gets in the way!!

Tiago is Portuguese and in addition to this speaks fluent English and good Spanish. Emily also speaks good Spanish and some Portuguese too. We're just really excited to be starting out on this adventure and we both have a pretty positive outlook on life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We heard through our friend who was away in South East Asia for months that it is a great way to meet new people and to explore new places with the insight that only a local can give you. We love meeting new people (Emily will talk to ANYONE!) and think that the people we meet on this trip will be the things we remember most! When we are back in London next year we hope to start hosting so we can see our new friends again!

Music, Movies, and Books

Tiago used to be in a hardcore punk band and has travelled around Europe quite a bit with them. Emily (who is definitely NOT a hardcore fan but appreciates the scene and what it means!) has terrible taste in music and grew up listening to The Spice Girls (Viva Forever!!) We both read a lot and winter nights in London have lead to a strong preference for many Netflix box sets like Narcos, Stranger Things and Suits.

Teach, Learn, Share

We both love learning languages and can obviously help anyone out in our mother tongues of English and Portuguese. I would love to get more help with my Spanish which was once very good (after living in Barcelona for 6 months) but is now a bit rusty! We would love to share our experiences of European culture and our travelling stories. We have visited many places but have not touched much of South America to date so we are very excited about this.
