About Me

Here’s “me” in half a dozen words: I’m a somewhat stressed up researcher (I do medieval history : ) ), editor, translator, and amateur tour guide. If I’m at home, music probably will be on and fairly loud – well loud enough, I’m saving to get a pair of decent speakers. : P Bring your favourite playlist along, I’ll want to take a listen!

My place is located just outside Lisbon in Damaia, a (some will say worn and torn) small district you haven’t heard about. It’s sort of a mini-melting pot which never ceases to amaze me and where you’ll as easily come across Cape Verdean, Brazilian and typically Portuguese comfort food as well as a the unassuming little café to sit out in the sun.

Rossio (Lisbon downtown) is 9 minutes away by direct train, running roughly round-the-clock from 6 to 1 am. Gulbenkian, Campo Pequeno, the Lisbon Zoo, Universidade de Lisboa, are all an within 15 mins travel. If you’re into quiet and wilderness, the train ride to amazing Sintra takes under half hour and is dead cheap.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, I moved recently to my place and am quite proud of it -- now I want to show it off as much as possible! : )

Seriously, I like getting to know intelligent and curious people of all ages, of every walk of life. We can have a few laughs and a nice chat over a cup of coffee. Not to brag, but "we" do a fantastic espresso.

Interests

I have a general interest in history (well, yes), travel, food and music. Everything else seems to orbit around one or more of these things.

  • dining
  • coffee
  • running
  • traveling
  • music
  • history
  • languages
  • tourism

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to be able to move each ear lobe separately. It still amazes me.
