Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm surfing a great wave right now. Previously, I was a great wave. I like to participate by taking the extra time to work things out when someone calls or messages with the question, (you know which one) "Hey, do you know anyone in _____ ?"
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
It all began in 2008 while I was living in Madrid. I hosted couchsurfers from all over the globe in my tiny living room with two couches. On one occasion there were six people sleeping in there. While hitchhiking in the States (southwest) over summer 2011 I found myself not knowing which town I would be staying in until about three hours before I would arrive there. Using my phone, I messaged a good friend and fellow couchsurfer (who was in Spain at the time) asking if she'd be able to find couches for me for that night. Without knowing whether or not she had received my message, or if she could do it, I began to receive text message after text message from people I didn't know, all saying "Hey this is ___ from couchsurfing, do you still need a place to stay for the night?" This is truly a beautiful community.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Recently I've been amazed by how fun communicating is with someone who doesn't share a common language :)
Experiencing the generosity of strangers.
Among other things...People watching. Mountaintop views. Orange juice hungover. Jumping into the ocean from high up. The usual stuff is all pretty amazing to me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to incorporate avocado into anything you cook. I can also teach you how to shoot a manual camera. I can help you write letters (to your mother, to prisoners, or to a long lost lover).
If you are patient and interested I love teaching language! English and Spanish.
I can share my stories and skills.
I want to learn untranslatable words in your language.
I enjoy collaborating with other artists to create phenomenal projects.
Someone please teach me how to create and distribute zines!!!!
What I Can Share with Hosts
