Hello, I'm a 26 year old (if I forget to update this: born in '98) male, and I'm from Belgium. After high school I was treading water for a bit, not being sure of what I wanted to do in life. Three years later, after studying both Physics and Computer Science for a year, and then taking a gap year, I started studying architecture and I've just graduated.

During my gap year I travelled to the US for about three months, stopping by Iceland and Toronto on my way there.
It was during this time I discovered I really enjoy travelling, especially on my own, meeting people everywhere along the way. Through Couchsurfing I met a bunch of wonderful people, some of which I became good friends with. They 100% made my trip. Without them it wouldn't have been the same.

I'll be honest: it started with me wanting wanting cheap accommodation, but after staying with my first host I realised this community is so much more than a bed for the night. It's meeting people, discovering the cities as they are, not as most tourists see them.

I'm extremely glad I took the plunge and did that first stay. Scott, my first host, is an awesome guy and years later I can say it turned into a wonderful friendship. Here's to many more!

Musica, film e libri

My interests in music are about as diverse as can be, but if I had to narrow it down, it's mostly a broad range of metal genres and r&b/soul music.

As for movies, I'm a sucker for a good (or bad) chick flick, I'm also a big fan of the more serious movies, favourites include Nolan’s Memento and Villeneuve’s Dune (both part I&II).

At home I don't make enough time to read, but when I'm travelling I go through books and articles pretty quickly. I mostly enjoy history-written-as-a-novel books. I've recently read both "Destiny of the Republic" and "The River of Doubt" by Candice Millard and “The Three-Body Problem” by Liu Cixin.

In 2019 I travelled around the US for about three months and met tons of lovely people from all walks of life.

During this trip I went to the Rosebud reservation in South Dakota with one of my hosts' roommate, who is part American Indian, and I got to see a Sun Dance. It was unlike anything I've ever seen before, and I learned a lot about Native American culture!

I can talk for a good while about architecture, technology and travelling. I can share a good amount of stories from my travels around the US and SE Asia. But really I can talk just about anything with the right company.

* Also not actually learning french, just understand it a bit so didn't want to put it under 'fluent in'

I'd love to learn more about the local culture, and I always love an engaging conversation! I can also teach you more about Belgium, it's a nice little country that is overly complicated and produces wonderful couchsurfers ;)
