About Me

(CURRENTLY IN AUSTRIA)
Hi there,
I'm Tien or you can call me Carol ;). I am originally from Viet Nam, born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City which is well-known for its busy and dynamic life, crowded streets and probably "traffic jam" you may witness during rush-hours.
However, I am currently studying in Finland, Jyväskylä in particular. I have moved here since I was 17 after having graduated from high school in VN. At one time, I realized I needed to get out of that "comfort zone", to experience the beautiful world out there, to take risk and challenge myself. That would be the only way for me to grow up :). So after getting the admission, I packed everything and started my new journey :). Finland is definitely different from Viet Nam as you could imagine but I am so glad I made my mind to move here as I have earned so many amazing experiences.
I love to travel, meet new people and learn different cultures. I'm an open-minded, out-going, quite extrovert and would love to have friends from all over the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The first time I tried Couchsurfing was in Norway while I was traveling with my roommate, who is also a Couchsurfer and has motivated me a lot with her incredible travel journey experiencing Couchsurfing. I met so many great and kind people including my hosts who made my trip unforgettable. After that, I definitely believe that staying and traveling with local people is my best way to learn! Besides exchanging cultures, meeting new people, I start to build new friendships around the world by joining this super cool community!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Indie, Pop music. Whenever I need to concentrate and think, Jazz and Classical would be my choice.
_My favorite artists : The Neighbourhood, BØRNS, The 1975, The Fratellis, Cigarettes After Sex,...
Pop singers: Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes,...

_I like different types of movies from romantic ones to action: Taken (2008), One Day (2011), The Theory of Everything (2014), Room (2015), Jeux d'enfants (Love me if you dare, 2003),... and almost every movie based on Nicholas Sparks' novels :D
A Vietnamese movie produced in France: The scent of green papaya (1993)
A French movie produced in Vietnam: The Lover (1992)

_I love reading romantic novels (Nicholas Sparks). Another favorite book is The Circle (Dave Eggers). I also like to read books related to business and psychology.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

_To be living!
_Moved from Vietnam to Finland and lived far away from home.
_Hitchhiked from Bergen to Stavanger in Norway.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always grateful for getting to know a new person as there must be something I could learn from his/her experiences. Exchanging knowledge and experiences is such a priceless activity which we could actually do everyday! Listening to others and looking at life under different perspectives help me learn to appreciate the diversity in life and that everyone is so unique.
So what can I teach you? I hope by telling my own stories, narrating my life journeys will somehow trigger something in you :). It will also be my pleasure to teach you to cook some Vietnamese dishes :D

What I Can Share with Hosts

Everyone is a book, I am not an exception. I would be definitely be open to share with you any story of my life, to introduce you a little bit about Asian culture as well as the international experiences I have had in different countries while traveling in Europe.
Simply I just love people! And of course, FOODS! I love to cook, especially Vietnamese foods so if you are craving for some, then we're matched :D
