Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Tiffany, a 44-year-old expat living in Ankara with my two cats, Stormy and Smokey, while pursuing my MBA at the incomparable and amazing Middle East Technical University or Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi for the locals. I grew up in Michigan in the United States, but spent some time traveling the country for work in my early 20s. I spent 8 years living in Louisville, Kentucky, and another 8 years in Boston, Massachusetts prior to moving here to Ankara. I have lived here for 1 year, and will be here for at least two more years while I finish my MBA.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After packing up my life (and two cats) to pursue an MBA in Türkiye, I realized that adventure isn’t just about new places—it’s about the people you meet along the way. I’m here because I love meaningful connections, sharing stories, and learning from different cultures. Whether it’s trading travel tips or having a good laugh over a cup of tea, CouchSurfing feels like the perfect way to immerse myself deeper into local life while offering a glimpse of my own quirky journey.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I listen to everything! I love 80s music, but I also listen to today's popular music and everything else. I listen to alternative rock, rock, and pop most often. My favorite band of all time is New Order, and my favorite song of all time is "Bizarre Love Triangle."
Movies: My top 3 favorite movies are Donnie Darko, Thank You For Smoking, and The Brothers Bloom.
Honorable mentions: Dead Poets Society, I Heart Huckabees, and Saved.
Books: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is my favorite book. I also enjoyed The Count of Monte Cristo. I love to read, but mostly these days my reading is related to school and other interests.

Teach, Learn, Share
I love to learn. I am open to learning about new cultures and their histories. I'm also open to going on adventures to learn about and experience new places.
I can tell you about the US. I can teach you about Reiki and meditation and mindfulness. I can share my experiences at METU.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a fabulous cook of plant-based foods! I love cooking and sharing the meals I cook with new people.
