About Me

I find it surprisingly very hard to describe myself. This is always the hardest part for me in interviews or just generally getting to know someone. For starters, I am 20 years old, almost 21. I am going to school for my BA in Psychology and afterward will probably go directly back to get my Master's. More than anything, I love helping people. I crave to understand the human mind and it baffles me when I can't understand people's actions. One of my biggest annoyances is people who are judgmental and unaccepting. Even if I disagree with someone, I still treat them with respect because that's what I would want.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been very fortunate for my age to travel as much as I have. However, its now time for me to pay my own way in life, now that I am really becoming an adult. This makes it more difficult to continue traveling, especially while still going to school. If the burden of paying for a hotel is lifted, I would feel much more free to explore new places and meet new people.

Interests

My life is basically jam packed. There is rarely ever a dull moment. I have a problem with turning down experiences because I want to live it all! However, work and school take up most of my time. In the free time I do have, however, I enjoy spending time with my friends and my family. People are my greatest interest and hobby. This is why I love to travel. Experiencing different cultures and learning new things is what I live for! The idea that someone could open your mind to views you had never considered before is amazing. I will never understand those who are closed off.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music and movies is very eclectic. Generally, I like something from every genre, it just greatly depends on my mood. I would listen to Taylor Swift non stop for weeks and then switch over to Jamestown Story for a couple of weeks, etc, etc. My tastes are directly linked to my emotions because I am very in touch with them. If a song or a movie touches my heart or makes me feel strongly about a situation, then it doesn't matter who sings it or what genre it came from. Also, I'm a big fan of really sarcastic movies. Will Ferrell kills me, every time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are a lot of things I've done that I'm proud of, there are many more that I think were amazing moments. However, only one thing comes to mind when I think of an amazing act done by me. When I was a junior in high school, I spent two weeks in China for a mission's trip. We spent time at an orphanage there, working with the kids. We also visited a village in the area. Seeing their conditions and their heartfelt thanks for our services changed my life in a way I will never be able to describe.. I would give just about anything to do that again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure how good of a teacher I am. I can't really think of anything to teach. However, there are so many things I would love to learn. I would love to learn to cook better, there are languages I would like to learn, but mostly I would love to share ideas, views, gain better perspective. There is a much bigger world out there than the small town I grew up in, and I would love to learn all about it.
