About Me
I'm a former wildland firefighter and have traveled a lot for work as well as pleasure over the years. I currently work from home for the Forest Service as a contract specialist. I write and paint and enjoy kayaking. I love trees, dirt, and fresh air. I enjoy meeting adventurous new people and seeing new places.
Now I am a little more settled down in North Carolina only an hour from the Outer Banks and thirty minutes from Great Dismal Swamp. I've had a lot of experiences as a couch surfer and am shifting to more of a host role.
My wife is a professor and tech writer. We have a large home with a large yard in a pretty quiet neighborhood. We have 3 dogs and a cat. The cat usually hides, but the dogs demand your immediate friendship.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am moving into more of a host role now and have a great space to offer guests looking to surf through the northeast corner of North Carolina.
I've surfed several times (with awesome hosts in Seattle, Atlanta, Flagstaff, Prague, Boston, and Belfast) and caught a ride from a couple fellow couch surfers to the trail head of the Appalachian Trail. All of my experiences have been awesome so far. I've hosted a few times when I lived in Southern Utah and looking forward to meeting more adventurous spirits.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I flew front seat in a helicopter over the Great Salt Lake/salt flats at sunset on my way to a wildfire. The water was as still as glass and reflected a firey sunset.
