About Me

Hello there! My name is Tiffany Keo and I was born and raised in Long Beach, California. I am pretty easy-going and down for doing anything fun and educational. I am 1/2 Cambodian, 1/4 Chinese, 1/8 Vietnamese and 1/8 French and grew up surrounded by people from many different cultures and backgrounds so I definitely appreciate people from different parts of the world. I am always willing to get to know people and see where they have come from and what they are about because I believe cultural exchanges help broaden one's perspective on life and is a great way to make friends!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been in hostels and hotels and met amazing people but sometimes it can be very overwhelming in such a populated setting. As I've gotten older I lean more towards one-on-one meetings and getting to know people in a more relaxed environment.

Also, my goal is to travel to as many countries as possible and learn the different cultures, customs, languages, and cuisine. I live for food and am always interested in learning how to cook delicious foods from different countries and to share the cuisine I've grown up eating.

Interests

Dancing (mainly hip-hop and lyrical/jazz), eating and cooking good food, reading (huge fan of autobiographies, mysteries, fantasy, history and dystopian novels)

I can't live without music and am always looking for good music from around the world, usually very open to different genres of music (and in different languages too).

A few of my favorite authors are Fyodor Dostoevsky, Khaled Hosseini, George Orwell, Homer, and J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling.

I love watching films of different genres: comedies, action, noir, sci-fi, etc and am open to recommendations!

Music, Movies, and Books

Grew up on West Coast Hip Hop and Cambodian music with a touch of pop. Now open and listen to all kinds of music except heavy meta/screamo and bad techno/electric music. I’ve tried, it hurts.

I admit, I love me a good rom-com and action film, even Sci-Fi and fantasy, but scary, gory films are too much for me. Unless it’s the daytime. Maybe haha

Love to read, especially the classics. And especially on a rainy day in a cafe. Currently reading Hemingway’s The Fifth Column.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to Spain to teach English !

Climbed a 120m waterfall (the 3rd largest in Japan) - well halfway climbed it before I realized steep steps, humidity and 42 degree Celsius weather in summer was NOT a good mix lol

Visited Japan and helped rebuild/replant parts of the countryside after the 2011 Earthquake.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My sense of humor, curiosity and the culture I grew up in, as well as a bunch of funny stories to pass the time!

I love to cook, so I would be glad to share a meal as well as good conversation :)
