Overview
About Me
I grew up in country Australia, then lived the last 10~ years in Canada (mostly in Montreal) — make the decision to move to Berlin in early 2020 and kinda just settling in here. despite growing up in Australia I sound like a Canadian - you can ask me about the accent in person.
I work as a journalist - I was recently a food and culture writer and editor, but started doing a wider range of freelance work lately. I'm a bit of an academic type, I think a lot about the world, politics, mass culture, society, all that kinda big picture stuff.
I'm pretty social - always happy to go grab meals, drinks, parties, do something new, and so on. good vibes only - I'm generally relaxed ("terminally chill"), but also super respectful towards people and their homes.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
to meet new people and have new experiences. I want to travel but staying in hostels and doing that backpacker thing isn't always so fulfilling. I'm surfed a bunch of couches in the US and Canada and now hoping to do it a bit more around Europe - I've only hosted a little because of roommate situations but hoping to do it more in the future.
Interests
definitely an arts-and-culture type: music, film, art, books, television and food are all up my alley. I have pretty broad tastes and interests - happy to go to an art gallery, but also a rave. into queer/lgbtq culture, I cycle a lot and am slowly learning some bike mechanics from going to workshops. I'm a pretty open book - ask me anything.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies - Mulholland Drive (and other Lynch), David Cronenberg (especially Videodrome). Some cult stuff like Valley of the Dolls.
Music - I listen pretty widely; can be anything from a fun italo disco mix to WAP to dream pop anad beyond. share a playlist with me?
Books - Play It As It Lays, Handmaid's Tale, Revolutionary Road, Lolita, Brave New World. i'm a sucker for a good dystopia but also mid-20th century Americana.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got kinda tired of cold Montreal winters so I bailed for 3 months to go live in Austin, Mexico City, and Berlin for a bit — it doesn't sound that exciting when written here, but met so many interesting, fun people.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a really good cook (and used to be a food writer), so I'll probably cook you something or I can teach you a thing or two.
What I Can Share with Hosts
See the "teach, learn share" box (i.e. cooking) but also down to just share tips for music, movies, media, books, or just dumb memes.
