About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Be wise

ABOUT ME

Hi there! Well, don't really know what to say here. "All about me" would take more than 10 lines... Let's just say that I am a simple and open minded person.

I love visiting places over the world, discover facets of several cultures, but not being a tourist. So I found the best way is to *live* in different places. I used to live in Mali for half a year, Burkina Faso for 8 years, Niger for 3 years, Grenoble (France) for 7 years, Montreal (Quebec, Canada) for over a year, Glasgow (Scotland, UK) for half a year, Singapore for half a year, and Tokyo (Japan) for 2 years.

This is the reason why I didn't fill in "Home town", I don't really feel like I "come" from somewhere specific, though I definitely feel I belong to french culture tinted with african roots. Well, when I am asked the question, I just say "I used to study in Grenoble", since it is the city where I spent the longest time as a grown-up :-) After spending 12 years in Lille (north of France), I am now based in Biot, south-east of France. Very nice area.

I love music - listening and playing! I like to listen to world music, and I like to play the clarinet, flute, guitar, piano (beginner for all!) I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Don't know what to say! Just ask me if you like!!

(Note: I am a member of Servas France)

PHILOSOPHY

Be human first in any situation. In case of doubt, open my heart and let it speak.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My Mum, who's been educated after traditional standards and culture from Mali, always cooked an extra portion of food, "the visitor's share", she would say. Also the doors has always been open to people in need for a bed. Because they also have a house at home. Most of people have a place to stay at home. So why should they go to a hotel when they travel? So they are very welcome at home. (Haha, not really sure it makes sense!!)

However I believe that participating in CS project (as well as being a member of the Servas network, for those who know) contribute to perpetuating this philosophy.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I traveled to Crete, California, Slovenia, Berlin, and... Rennes surfing the couch of very nice people ^_^ Can't wait for the next one!

Interests

I am interested in doing sports (cycling, hiking, climbing, snorkeling, paragliding, playing capoeira) - not watching on TV!, listening to world music (traditional african, afro-american, south-american, etc.), playing music (clarinet, flute, piano, guitar), watching movies, cooking, growing veggies, playing games, and much more!

Music, Movies, and Books

World movies, world music, and world books!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the Gypsy Kings (Los Reyes) singer pants down in a private party in Singapore - please don't tell them!
Waiting for the sun rise on top of Mont Fuji in Japan, and on top of Sri Pada (Adam's Peak) in Sri Lanka.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach how to play clarinet, how to bake bread, how to fix a bicycle flat tire, how to play capoeira, or how to swim :-D

What I Can Share with Hosts

A glass of wine :-)
