About Me

Hi!

I'm Tijler from the Netherlands. Currently I am on a WHV traveling through Australia for a couple of months and hopefully settling down for a longer time wherever I like it most.
‘Back home’ for me is the city of Groningen! It’s a real beautiful city so you should really check it out once you’re around. Just finished my bachelors there and ready for some adventure!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Although Groningen is really nice to live in and pleases me every single day, there is a lot more to discover! On top of that, I believe that meeting new people with other nationalities grants you the most powerful knowledge that exists in life.

I believe that life is predetermined. Everything that we will encounter in life has a purpose, also the people you meet, so you can enjoy and learn from them.

That's why I signed up for this beautiful concept.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: You can make me happy with anything, as long as it is overwhelming and makes me feel smaller in this massive world. For example 'Good Life' by OneRepublic. Other than that, almost every song that is made with contribution of a piano or songs to dance on in clubs appeal to me.

Movies: Milk, a movie that shows the life of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay politician. He is such a great inspiration for me, especially his dedication and effort to reach political progress, which was not particularly beneficial for himself, but for the whole world.

Book: The best book ever written is a Dutch book, 'de Engelenmaker', translated in English, 'the Creator of Angels', what tells about religion, science and the overlap between them. A doctor, specialized in embryology, finds a way to conserve his own genes and adapt the natural world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was a tiny little boy I knitted small objects, like hats for babies and such. After a few years of practice, I achieved to knit a patterned scarf! Next goal, knitting my own ugly Christmas sweater.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could offer you a short course in knitting! ;)

Or maybe teach you the basics of Dutch.

I am learning German and (consolidating) French, so maybe you can help me with that?

As I am coeliac I can introduce you to lovely gluten free meals!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Bringing a smile and a laugh and a bit of serious business. I conceive life as a thing to - sometimes - make fun of, though coexistence on a single globe requires deep discussions and inspirations from each other.
