ABOUT ME

I'm a British young woman born and bred in London, and currently living just outside of Edinburgh. I'm giggly and friendly, quite easy to get along with once you get to know me. I'm interested in learning about many different things in life and meeting lots of great people along the way :)

I went backpacking alone around Australia in 2013 and was having quite the adventure. I was there on a working holiday for 4.5 months, and I would have stayed longer had I not struggled so much to find work and got so stressed out from running out of money.

PHILOSOPHY

I find it easier and more pleasant to be nice to people rather than nasty. After all, why not treat others how you want to be treated?

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined this site when I was travelling in Australia to find couches to surf! Right now, I'm living in East Lothian with my husband. We have a spare room so hosting is a possibility if the time is right :)

I'm also always up for making new friends so I'd quite like to use the site to meet new people near me to hang out with, locals or travellers :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before using this particular site, I did through Gumtree end up being taken in by a nice Jewish family in Melbourne who let me live in their house for a few days when I was broke, in exchange for doing some household chores, so I guess that is kinda similar.

And then on a later occasion I turned to Couchsurfing in an emergency after I got unfairly dismissed from a hostel job in Sunshine Coast and I literally had no money and nowhere to stay, and luckily managed to find a very kind host at last minute.

To be honest, I would never have done something like this a few years ago due to the whole "stranger danger" culture, but now I feel I can be a little more trusting :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going backpacking for the first time in 2013, starting with a stopover holiday in Hong Kong, and then my big trip around Australia. It was pretty awesome doing all these new things like organising all the flights and travel activities by myself, staying in hostels and meeting so many great new people to chat to and hang out with - I even met my awesome Scottish husband in one!

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't think I'm really an expert in anything, but maybe I could teach a few things, such as basic HTML, how to use Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop, drawing techniques, afro haircare tips, etc. I could also teach English to anyone who's learning it, as well as some London lingo (I have a boyfriend from Edinburgh and it's been very entertaining learning new words and phrases from each other!).

I'm interested in maybe one day becoming multilingual and learning more Yoruba, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and whatever else might take my fancy! I'd also like to learn hip hop dancing as it looks so cool, as well as a bit of salsa.
