About Me
BEFORE SENDING A COUCHREQUEST
Please note:
a) I usually try to spend weekends out of the city. I may not be able to host you on a weekend, especially if you arrive on Saturday.
b) This means I prefer hosting people on weekdays. I work on weekdays so it may not be possible to let you in during work hours. I usually get home after 6-7PM. I am most often out of my apt by 8AM.
c) Taking into account that I rarely host people on weekends, I also rarely host people for weeks. *IMPORTANT* If you're sending a request for a week or two, just please-please mention that you will be fine to surf for weekdays only and not the full period. I will reply with a set of available dates. I will most certainly decline a request for several weeks that doesn't mention this.
d) Also, I do not respond immediately to requests that I get months in advance. I just don't know if I will be able to host you in this case. If I haven't replied to your request 1-2 days before the date, you can safely assume that I am traveling/not reading e-mails. *IMPORTANT* I prefer requests that are sent up to a week in advance. Feel free to send a request whenever you want though, you will just may need to wait.
e) As an addition to d) - I do respond to last minute requests! That is, if I can host you tonight and you send me a request today, I will be happy to accept it. *IMPORTANT* Please mention that it is a last minute request! I pay special attention to such requests and I always try to help people in need. I can miss your request though so please also send such requests to other hosts.
f) I am fine hosting people without references/friends. In the end, I was in your position some time ago. I avoid hosting people with empty profiles and templated requests though. Please provide at least some info about yourself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On the night of the Kilimanjaro summit I saw a thunderstorm in the high layers of the atmosphere. It was about 20 km away from the place I was standing but I was able to see the lightnings and - oh boy - was it an impressive demonstration of nature's power! To fully understand what I was feeling that time please keep in mind that I was climbing for 6 hours before that and it's freezing cold @ 6000m. Great night!
